On Sunday, Breitbart<\/a> posted an article about the charges against President Trump that may result in his arrest. It seems as if this sort of misbehavior has come up before in other campaigns by other candidates.<\/p>\n

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is essentially using the same legal theory to potentially indict former President Donald Trump that Hillary Clinton\u2019s campaign was fined for, argued former United States Attorney Brett Tolman.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tolman asserted Saturday that Bragg\u2019s legal theory that Trump tried to hide a campaign expenditure by using his then-lawyer to pay porn actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 in alleged hush money before the 2016 presidential elections would have applied to Clinton when her campaign hid a payment for the phony Russian pee dossier against Trump as \u201clegal fees.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former New York City police officer and conservative pundit John Cardillo tweeted, \u201cBill Clinton paid Paula Jones $850,000 and no one cared.\u201d Tolman tweeted in response, \u201cAnd the Hillary Campaign was actually fined for hiding the Steele Dossier payment under \u2018legal fees\u2019 \u2014 essentially the same legal theory on the Stormy Daniels payment the DA is running criminal investigation of Trump.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Although Bragg cannot bring charges against Trump for federal violations, Turley\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0he\u00a0could bring state charges under Section 175<\/a> for falsifying business records, based on the claim that Trump concealed the hush-payments as \u201clegal expenses\u201d to violate federal election laws.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As Turley noted, a Section 175 charge would normally be a misdemeanor, but Bragg could try to convert it into a felony by showing that \u201cintent to defraud includes an intent to commit another crime or to aid or conceal the commission thereof.\u201d The crime, Turley speculated, is that the federal election violations, which he noted the Justice Department previously declined to charge.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Epoch Times show host Hans Mahncke \u2014 who followed the Russia collusion hoax closely \u2014 also agreed with Tolman: \u201cProbably the most important thing anyone has said since the pending arrest reports came out. Hillary claimed the Steele reports were legal fees. That\u2019s not just essentially the same as what Trump is being charged with, it is the same.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
