It might only prove temporary, but it\u2019s still a win for now.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/hotair.com\/ed-morrissey\/2023\/02\/10\/why-we-fight-the-blacklist-against-conservative-viewpoints-by-big-tech-n529851\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Last week<\/a>, the Washington Examiner\u2019s Gabe Kaminsky <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/equality-not-elitism\/disinformation-inc-read-one-of-the-blacklists-used-secretly-to-defund-conservative-news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exposed secret blacklists of conservative sites<\/a> created by the \u201cGlobal Disinformation Index.\u201d Those blacklists included Hot Air, Townhall, RedState, and Twitchy, and lots of other conservative sites under the ambiguous guise of \u201cdisinformation.\u201d No one from GDI or its sponsors ever bothered to contact us to discuss their \u201cassessment,\u201d nor did their reports ever cite any specific data for any of the sites blacklisted, despite a lengthy yet completely data-free discussion of their \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.disinformationindex.org\/files\/gdi_us-mmr-22.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">methodology<\/a>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>&#8230;Several House Republicans demanded hearings on GDI in the immediate future. It will fit nicely into the GOP\u2019s efforts to expose the political weaponization of government. It also comes at the same time that the Twitter Files and a lawsuit against Facebook have exposed government efforts to quash and silence dissent and debate on social media platforms. This takes that effort several steps further \u2014 attempting to strangle conservative voices even outside of the Big Tech platforms.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article notes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Once again, this is why we fight. We knew that we could not rely on Big Tech to provide us easy access to advertisers, but we didn\u2019t know they\u2019d adopt blacklists to cut us off entirely. Our members are what keep us going, and we appreciate them for standing up to the GDIs and the other McCarthyists.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The squeaky wheel gets the oil.
