{"id":49156,"date":"2023-02-06T09:39:45","date_gmt":"2023-02-06T14:39:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=49156"},"modified":"2023-02-06T09:39:45","modified_gmt":"2023-02-06T14:39:45","slug":"what-are-we-teaching-our-children-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=49156","title":{"rendered":"What Are We Teaching Our Children:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/02\/04\/schools-to-host-black-lives-matter-at-school-week-which-teaches-kids-about-trans-affirmation-restorative-justice\/?utm_medium=email&amp;pnespid=rKtqFT1GZaQVgaOftGvpDpCQ7xesVpRxIPTkwbtqshdm0WslFwTx93B_C6p1dzZ.7KYZ4z4._g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Daily Caller<\/a> posted an article about some of the curriculum being used in our schools to celebrate Black History Month.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Several of the nation\u2019s schools are preparing to celebrate \u201cBlack Lives Matter at School\u201d week which features curriculums on \u201crestorative justice\u201d and \u201cglobalism.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>With lesson plans, reading, documentaries and activities, students learn about activism and \u201cstructural racism.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cAny education leader interested in building awareness on the history and struggles of the African American community should seek meaningful policy solutions rather than virtue-signaling,\u201d Wenyuan Wu, executive director of Californians for Equal Rights Foundation, a group that focused on combating racial discrimination, told the Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Teaching children that they are victims does not do anything to encourage learning or to help them deal with the world they see around them. Teaching them that because their ancestors were treated horribly they are entitled to money they did not earn does not help anyone. It divides people along racial lines and prevents the country from unifying to solve problems. Could a unified America actually solve problems? Is a unified America a threat to the deep state?<\/p>\n<p>The article notes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Milwaukee Public Schools is hosting events in honor of \u201cBlack Lives Matter at School\u201d week including \u201cBLM Family Night\u201d where families can participate in \u201ccultural experiences\u201d at the Black Holocaust Museum, according to the school <a href=\"https:\/\/mps.milwaukee.k12.wi.us\/News\/MPS-hosts-events-for-national-Black-Lives-Matter-Week-of-Action-2023.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>. Shoreline Public Schools in Washington plans to celebrate the week in order to help students \u201cunderstand inequities based on race\u201d and to \u201caffirm that the lives of people of color matter,\u201d the school district website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorelineschools.org\/site\/default.aspx?PageType=3&amp;DomainID=4&amp;ModuleInstanceID=26&amp;ViewID=6446EE88-D30C-497E-9316-3F8874B3E108&amp;RenderLoc=0&amp;FlexDataID=35024&amp;PageID=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">showed<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>BLM at School raised more than $103,000 for its national week of action as of Friday, according to its <a href=\"https:\/\/opencollective.com\/blacklivesmatteratschool#category-BUDGET\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>. Several teachers unions have backed the week-long event in the country\u2019s schools including the <a href=\"https:\/\/neaedjustice.org\/black-lives-matter-at-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Education Association,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctulocal1.org\/movement\/black-lives-matter-at-school-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Teachers Union<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veanea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2023-BLM-Toolkit_FV.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Virginia Education Association<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article concludes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\" data-inc=\"4\"><strong>\u201cGiving the BLM brand legitimacy in public schools is handing ideologies, radicals and groomers a license to harm our next generation,\u201d Wu told the DCNF. \u201cAny education leader interested in building awareness on the history and struggles of the African American community should seek meaningful policy solutions rather than virtue-signaling.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>BLM at School, San Diego Unified School District, Howard County Schools, Milwaukee Public Schools and Shoreline Public Schools did not immediately respond to the DCNF\u2019s request for comment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If I thought the children were actually learning the reading, writing and mathematics skills they need, I might be somewhat less bothered by this.
