On Friday, PJ Media<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n Secretary of State Antony Blinken has given the Biden administration\u2019s response to President Xi Jinping and China for their brazenly illegal act of sending a balloon over U.S. territory to spy on the United States.<\/strong><\/p>\n How do we know it\u2019s a spy balloon? We don\u2019t have to know. We can, should, and must assume that\u2019s what it\u2019s doing.<\/strong><\/p>\n Blinken, along with his advisors Wynken and Nod, has come up with a brilliant riposte to this Chinese transgression. The United States will deny China the pleasure and honor of hosting the U.S. secretary of state this week as planned.<\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s the well-practiced \u201ccomfy chair\u201d<\/a> response to China. Unfortunately, it\u2019s not likely to impress President Xi. In fact, Xi couldn\u2019t care less if Blinken comes to Beijing or not. He must be watching the diplomatic byplay with amusement.<\/strong><\/p>\n Blinken and one of his deputies spoke with the Chinese Embassy on Wednesday night, and on Friday morning, he told China\u2019s top foreign policy official, Wang Yi<\/a>, that the balloon\u2019s course was a violation of sovereignty and \u201cunacceptable,\u201d according to a State Department official.<\/strong><\/p>\n Oh, dear! Did ya hear that Xi-man? It\u2019s \u201cunacceptable\u201d to fly your aircraft over U.S. territory.<\/strong><\/p>\n The New York Times<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n Beijing had sought to defuse tensions with Washington on Friday over the balloon, expressing its regret over the incident, and saying the balloon was for civilian research and had \u201cdeviated far from its planned course.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n The explanation from the Chinese Foreign Ministry came after Pentagon officials said on Thursday<\/a> that they had detected a balloon, \u201cmost certainly launched by the People\u2019s Republic of China,\u201d over Montana, which is home<\/a> to about 150 intercontinental ballistic missile silos<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n The article at PJ Media notes:<\/p>\n The experts at The Drive\u2019s The War Zone<\/a> disagree that there\u2019s no added benefit to floating a balloon above U.S. military installations: \u201cThe idea that a terrestrial aerial platform in close proximity and floating for long periods above major military installations and other sensitive locales is not significantly more of a threat than what can be collected by satellites in orbit is a debatable claim.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Don’t shoot it down–find a way to make a small hole in the balloon so that it floats gently to the ground, and then reverse engineer whatever electronics it is carrying.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" How long do you think an American spy balloon would last over the mainland of China?
