On Monday, The New York Post<\/a> posted an article about a recent statement by one of the 51 ex-intelligence officials who signed a letter claiming that Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation. It is not unrealistic to think that the letter they signed had a significant impact on the 2020 election.<\/p>\n

A former top intelligence official who signed on to a letter attacking The Post\u2019s bombshell 2020 reporting<\/a> on Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop as Russian disinformation has now admitted he knew a \u201csignificant portion\u201d of the recovered files \u201chad to be real\u201d \u2013 but doesn\u2019t regret dismissing the expos\u00e9.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Douglas Wise, a former Defense Intelligence Agency deputy director, was one of 51 erstwhile intelligence brass who issued the public letter on Oct. 19, 2020 \u2014 five days after The Post began a series of reports on the now-first son\u2019s shady overseas business dealings.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAll of us figured that a significant portion of that content had to be real to make any Russian disinformation credible,\u201d said Wise \u2014 who didn\u2019t respond when The Post reached out for an explanation<\/a> in March of last year, but found his tongue when he spoke to The Australian<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wise spoke out a week after the new Republican-controlled House of Representatives established the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government<\/a>, which is expected to investigate the ordeal<\/a> as part of its mission to look into inappropriate links between intelligence agencies and social media platforms in the wake of revelations that the FBI pressured Twitter to censor the Hunter Biden story<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It also came after the House Oversight Committee last week launched an investigation into the Biden family\u2019s business dealings<\/a> \u2013 an initiative partly inspired by the Post\u2019s report.<\/strong><\/p>\n
