{"id":48764,"date":"2023-01-08T12:53:06","date_gmt":"2023-01-08T17:53:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=48764"},"modified":"2023-01-08T12:53:06","modified_gmt":"2023-01-08T17:53:06","slug":"this-is-just-sad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=48764","title":{"rendered":"This Is Just Sad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/capitol-police-arrest-ashli-babbitts-mother-on-two-year-anniversary-of-riot?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=cnemail&amp;seyid=41721\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported the following:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The mother of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/ashli-babbitt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ashli Babbitt<\/a> got arrested at a demonstration near the Capitol exactly two years after her daughter was fatally shot during the Capitol riot.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>&#8230;Capitol Police <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uscp.gov\/media-center\/press-releases\/woman-charged-blocking-and-obstructing-roadways-obey-order\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">released a statement<\/a> that said Witthoeft, 58, was arrested on a charge of blocking and obstructing roadways, as well as for allegedly violating a regulation to obey an order.<\/strong><\/p>\n<aside id=\"region-sidebar-first\" class=\"grid-8 region region-sidebar-first\">\n<div class=\"region-inner region-sidebar-first-inner\">\n<section id=\"block-menu-block-section-menu\" class=\"block block-menu-block block-section-menu block-menu-block-section-menu odd\">\n<div class=\"block-inner clearfix\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Capitol Police said there were a group of demonstrators \u201cillegally blocking traffic on Independence Avenue, SW, near First Street, SW.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The statement added: \u201cThe group did not have a permit to demonstrate on Capitol Grounds. Officers established a clear police line to prevent the group from moving further west on Independence Avenue, SW. The officers and officials told the group to get out of the road or the group would be arrested. The sidewalk was open. A woman in the group was given multiple warnings to get out of the road. Instead of getting out of the road, the woman refused to leave, turned around with her hands behind her back, and asked to be arrested.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The statement concluded: \u201cAs is typical for this charge, Ms. Witthoeft was processed and released this afternoon after being given a citation to appear in court at a later date.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I am reminded of the following quote:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Joseph N. Welch , <a id=\"link_phrase_2344\" class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.answers.com\/t\/us-army\" data-phrase-id=\"2344\" data-link-target=\"https:\/\/www.answers.com\/t\/us-army\" data-link-text=\"US Army\">US Army<\/a> legal counsel, &#8220;Senator, may we not drop this? We know he belonged to the Lawyers Guild. Let us not assassinate this lad further, Senator. You&#8217;ve done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On May 4, 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/news\/5265200\/washington-dc-crime-spike-murders-robberies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Sun<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>A SIGNIFICANT spike in violent crime in Washington DC has seen more than 200 murders over the last two years, police say.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Residents of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/where\/washington-dc\/\">the city<\/a> have been victimized while inside stores and their cars, as officials warn of the rising trend that started in 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>&#8230;Last year, the city saw its highest annual number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/topic\/crime\/\">murders<\/a> in nearly 20 years, with 226 homicides reported by the Metropolitan Police Department.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Of those homicides, only 42 percent were solved, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/continued-rise-dc-crime-leaders-answers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox News<\/a> reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>While murders are down six percent this year, with 59 reported so far, the number of robberies is up by a shocking 54 percent, with 803 incidents so far.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>However, the number of assaults with deadly weapons has remained the same when comparing this year to last.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I am thoroughly disgusted with the politicization of our justice system&#8211;from the local police to the court system.
