Today there is a report out about a brilliant Senator whose superior intellect allowed him to avoid major losses in the stock market.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/09\/07\/republicans-stock-trades-thousands-losses-burr-richard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Daily Caller<\/a> reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Sen. Richard Burr\u2019s \u201cwell-timed stock sales\u201d prior to the economic downturn in late February 2020 saved him over $87,000, according to an FBI search warrant affidavit unsealed Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The unsealed <a href=\"https:\/\/bloximages.newyork1.vip.townnews.com\/journalnow.com\/content\/tncms\/assets\/v3\/editorial\/6\/0f\/60fe5c0c-2e0c-11ed-9921-fbc9451d3b0e\/631788a0ec232.pdf.pdf\">warrant<\/a> is in connection to a prior Justice Department (DOJ) investigation into alleged insider trading by the North Carolina Republican during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic \u2014 which was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/01\/19\/us\/politics\/richard-burr-stock-trades-investigation.html\">closed<\/a> in January 2021 after the DOJ decided not to pursue charges. The senator profited over $144,000 on his stock sales in February 2020, the affidavit says.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article concludes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Burr also called his brother-in-law after he sold the stocks, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) alleged in October 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/burrs-brother-in-law-called-stock-broker-one-minute-after-getting-off-phone-with-senator\">according<\/a> to ProPublica. His brother-in-law sold up to $280,000 worth of stock that same day, the outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/burr-family-stock\">previously<\/a> reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The SEC was reportedly investigating the incident for possible insider trading and it is unclear if that probe is ongoing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\" data-inc=\"5\"><strong>Burr\u2019s office did not respond to a request for comment nor did the FBI or the SEC.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-inc=\"5\">Oh to trade in the stock market like Congress trades.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday I reported on the brilliant stock market trading of House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi and her husband (article here).
