{"id":46884,"date":"2022-08-20T08:29:05","date_gmt":"2022-08-20T12:29:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=46884"},"modified":"2022-08-20T08:29:05","modified_gmt":"2022-08-20T12:29:05","slug":"is-anyone-surprised-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=46884","title":{"rendered":"Is Anyone Surprised?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When the CHIPS Act passed, the Biden administration said that it would lead to \u201cmore than $1 million construction jobs alone over the next 6 years building semiconductor factories in America.\u201d On Friday, <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/leahbarkoukis\/2022\/08\/19\/does-the-chip-act-really-create-a-million-new-construction-jobs-n2611993\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Townhall<\/a> posted an article detailing the actual facts.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>After signing the CHIPS Act into law earlier this month, which aims to increase domestic chip production, President Biden claimed it would lead to \u201cmore than $1 million construction jobs alone over the next 6 years building semiconductor factories in America.\u201d It turns out, that figure is completely wrong.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>A White House official said it was a \u201cmix up,\u201d but this number was not something Biden said off-script. He said it in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2022\/08\/09\/remarks-by-president-biden-at-signing-of-h-r-4346-the-chips-and-science-act-of-2022\/\">official remarks<\/a> while signing the bill, then tweeted the statement from his official Twitter account.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Does anyone believe President Biden has control over his Twitter account? That is a scary thought!<\/p>\n<p>The article quotes The Washington Post:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>When we dug into the report, moreover, we could not find any reference to 1 million construction jobs being created. Instead, the report predicted such an investment \u2014 roughly equivalent to the Chips Act \u2014 would create \u201can average of 185,000 temporary jobs annually throughout the U.S. economy from 2021 to 2026.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\" data-el=\"text\" data-qa=\"drop-cap-letter\"><strong>Six times 185,000 adds up to more than 1 million. But note that these are not all construction jobs. In fact, few are construction jobs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\" data-el=\"text\" data-qa=\"drop-cap-letter\"><strong>\u201cThe statement about 1 million construction jobs is not accurate,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.semiconductors.org\/staff\/sarah-ravi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sarah Ravi,<\/a> a spokeswoman for the association. She directed us to a chart in the report that indicated that a $50 billion investment would create an additional 6,200 construction jobs.
