On Sunday, The Daily Caller<\/a> posted an article about a recent conference held at the University of Chicago centered on \u201cdisinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

The university hosted a \u201cDisinformation and the Erosion of Democracy\u201d conference featuring big names like CNN\u2019s Brian Stelter, The Atlantic\u2019s Anne Applebaum and Jeffrey Goldberg, and former President Barack Obama. The conference was largely partisan with the exception of the token conservative, Jonah Goldberg.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Freshman Daniel Schmidt questioned The Atlantic\u2019s Anne Applebaum<\/a> about Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop, to which the left-leaning journalist quickly dismissed the question.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cSo, in 2020, you wrote \u2018those outside the Fox News bubble do not, of course, need to learn any of the stuff about Hunter Biden,\u2019 referring to his laptop, of course,\u201d Schmidt began. \u201cA poll later found out that if voters knew about the contents of the laptop, 16% of Joe Biden voters would\u2019ve acted differently. Of course, we know a few weeks ago The New York Times confirmed that the content is real.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cDo you think the media acted inappropriately when they instantly dismissed Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop as Russian disinformation and what can we learn from that in ensuring that what we label as disinformation is truly disinformation and not reality?\u201d he continued.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Applebaum quickly moved to dismiss the legitimate question.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMy problem with Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop I think is totally irrelevant,\u201d she said. \u201cI mean, it\u2019s not whether it\u2019s disinformation or, I mean, I didn\u2019t think that Hunter Biden\u2019s business relationships have anything to do with who should be president of the United States, so I don\u2019t find it to be interesting, that would be my problem with that as a main news story.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

It really isn’t irrelevant when a candidate for a major office has a son who is possibly involved in illegal activities and could be subject to blackmail. Also, why do they keep calling America a democracy–it’s a republic!<\/p>\n

The article also highlights another question asked by someone who obviously wasn’t buying into the political agenda of the conference:<\/p>\n

Freshman Christopher Phillips<\/a> then asked CNN\u2019s Stelter about his outlet\u2019s role in pushing disinformation, saying \u201cyou\u2019ve all spoken extensively about Fox News being a purveyor of disinformation, but CNN is right up there with them.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Phillips then noted how CNN \u201cpushed the Russian Collusion hoax, they pushed the Jussie Smollett hoax, they smeared Justice Kavanaugh as a rapist and they also smeared Nick Sandmann as a white supremacist and, yes, they dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop as pure Russian disinformation.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stelter claimed Phillips was \u201cdescribing a different channel than the one I watch\u201d but he understands \u201cit is a popular right-wing narrative about CNN.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I wonder if outsiders will be invited to the next disinformation conference?<\/p>\n
