The donation platform just decisively proved that Big Tech doesn\u2019t have a monopoly on radicalism. So does the next tier of Silicon Valley darling \u2014 call it \u201cMedium Tech.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>GoFundMe made this fact clear when it<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/2022\/02\/07\/canada-protesters-fundraising-platform\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/2022\/02\/07\/canada-protesters-fundraising-platform\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1645829442106000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2epzKrSockr6XOqBN8r76J\">\u00a0suddenly seized $8 million<\/a>\u00a0that people had donated in support of the Canada trucker protest, known as the \u201cFreedom Convoy.\u201d Not only did the tech company refuse to give that money to the truckers, who were protesting heavy-handed pandemic mandates, but it then announced that it would<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10478989\/GoFundMe-cancels-Freedom-Convoy-distribute-9M-donations-charities.html\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10478989\/GoFundMe-cancels-Freedom-Convoy-distribute-9M-donations-charities.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1645829442106000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0DpKEa6EaxBFceLTHpomiE\">\u00a0give the money to other causes<\/a>. Only after people angrily pointed out that they donated the money to the truckers did GoFundMe<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/gofundme-stories\/update-gofundme-statement-on-the-freedom-convoy-2022-fundraiser-4ca7e9714e82\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/medium.com\/gofundme-stories\/update-gofundme-statement-on-the-freedom-convoy-2022-fundraiser-4ca7e9714e82&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1645829442106000&amp;usg=AOvVaw27iilaijvjWn3gJOY-sSmX\">\u00a0agree to refund them<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>There\u2019s only one possible explanation for these actions: An intolerant, extreme, and exclusionary worldview. GoFundMe is the same company that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/five-times-gofundme-shut-down-conservative-fundraisers\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/five-times-gofundme-shut-down-conservative-fundraisers&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1645829442106000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1rDq1LEOsmYIPYFoXj9uon\">facilitated donations<\/a>\u00a0to groups like Antifa, which organizes riots, and the armed mob that captured an entire Seattle neighborhood and kicked out the police in 2020. It takes a special kind of radicalism to accept anarchy in the streets yet oppose civil disobedience by protesters who simply wanted to save their jobs and preserve their freedom.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>And GoFundMe isn\u2019t alone. Much of Medium Tech suffers from the same ideological extremism. While Facebook, Amazon, Google, and Apple draw the most attention for silencing people and imposing their views on society, scores of smaller tech companies do the same thing on a regular basis.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last year GoDaddy refused to host a pro-life website.<\/p>\n<p>The article also notes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Then there\u2019s MailChimp. After the 2020 election, the email service<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/11\/16\/mailchimp-deplatforming-a-local-tea-party-is-a-hallmark-of-fascism\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/11\/16\/mailchimp-deplatforming-a-local-tea-party-is-a-hallmark-of-fascism\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1645829442106000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0qOPBDym2ODRJo6fkiNjpA\">\u00a0suspended the Northern Virginia Tea Party<\/a>, which had the gall to hold a rally calling for election integrity. That, too, ran afoul of elite tech views, resulting in punitive measures.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The list of companies engaging in censorship continues, from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gartner.com\/smarterwithgartner\/can-your-cloud-provider-deplatform-you\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.gartner.com\/smarterwithgartner\/can-your-cloud-provider-deplatform-you&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1645829442106000&amp;usg=AOvVaw28f4pUOzfXs6v8puBV3rCZ\">payment processor Stripe<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/spotify-deletes-joe-rogan-podcast-episodes\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/spotify-deletes-joe-rogan-podcast-episodes\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1645829442106000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2Zc9Jy4gn_U3PjliSB9eQ1\">music streaming service Spotify<\/a>. The widespread nature of this phenomenon proves that tech\u2019s willingness to censor and suppress doesn\u2019t stem from the size of a company. Big Tech, Medium Tech, it doesn\u2019t matter: This problem affects virtually the entire industry, and it springs from a deeper source.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>As a tech entrepreneur with experience in Silicon Valley and Seattle, I\u2019ve seen that source firsthand. Tech companies recruit from increasingly radicalized universities, while setting up shop in increasingly radicalized cities. The result is an<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/09\/06\/technology\/silicon-valley-politics.html\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/09\/06\/technology\/silicon-valley-politics.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1645829442106000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3wWrjCLyDZX95P36X2IPbx\">\u00a0overpowering ideological uniformity<\/a>\u00a0that\u2019s dead-set on its own rightness and dangerously hostile to disagreement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The editorial states:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Americans deserve better. We need new tech \u2013 the kind that respects free speech, religious belief, individual liberty, human dignity, and broadly speaking, American ideals.
