After the Court decision, President Biden requested that companies keep the vaccine mandates in effect anyway. I guess General Electric realized the potential lawsuits and loss of employees keeping the mandates would bring.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cThe maker of jet engines, wind turbines and medical scanners confirmed the decision Friday via email,\u201d Bloomberg News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-01-14\/general-electric-halts-vaccine-rule-after-supreme-court-ruling\">reported<\/a>. \u201cGE is the first major company to announce a halt after the court\u2019s decision Thursday to block the centerpiece of President Joe Biden\u2019s push to boost Covid-19 vaccinations.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article concludes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cI am disappointed that the Supreme Court has chosen to block common-sense life-saving requirements for employees at large businesses that were grounded squarely in both science and the law,\u201d Biden said. \u201cThis emergency standard allowed employers to require vaccinations or to permit workers to refuse to be vaccinated, so long as they were tested once a week and wore a mask at work: a very modest burden.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cAs a result of the Court\u2019s decision, it is now up to States and individual employers to determine whether to make their workplaces as safe as possible for employees, and whether their businesses will be safe for consumers during this pandemic by requiring employees to take the simple and effective step of getting vaccinated,\u201d Biden continued. \u201cThe Court has ruled that my administration cannot use the authority granted to it by Congress to require this measure, but that does not stop me from using my voice as President to advocate for employers to do the right thing to protect Americans\u2019 health and economy. I call on business leaders to immediately join those who have already stepped up \u2013 including one third of Fortune 100 companies \u2013 and institute vaccination requirements to protect their workers, customers, and communities.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Adhering to President Biden&#8217;s suggestion will only create more chaos in the supply chain and more lawsuits in the workplace. I suspect a lot of companies realize that.
