Yesterday Breitbart<\/a> reported that CBS News is claiming that climate change is responsible for strengthening the Taliban. Really? President Jefferson was dealing with the Barbary Pirates during his term as President. Did climate change strengthen them?<\/p>\n The article at Breitbart reports:<\/p>\n CBS News has blamed \u201cclimate change\u201d for abetting the Taliban in their rise to power in Afghanistan, insisting that global warming has forced farmers into debt and into the arms of the Taliban.<\/strong><\/p>\n In a risible report that has been compared<\/a> to spoofs in the Babylon Bee<\/em> and the Onion<\/em>, CBS News asserted<\/a> last week that Afghan farmers struggle to maintain productive crops and thus have to borrow funds to survive.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWhen Afghans can\u2019t pay off lenders, the Taliban often steps in to sow government resentment,\u201d CBS News declared in its airtight \u201cgotcha\u201d report.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIf you\u2019ve lost your crop and land or the Afghan government hasn\u2019t paid enough attention then of course, the Taliban can come and exploit it,\u201d the article states, citing Kamal Alam, a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council\u2019s South Asia Center.<\/strong><\/p>\n CBS News does not bother explaining how \u201cdrought\u201d and \u201cflood-ravaged soil,\u201d which have been a constant in Afghanistan for ages, are suddenly the result of \u201cclimate change.\u201d They seem to assume that any weather-related phenomenon, no matter how commonplace, must somehow be related to global warming.<\/strong><\/p>\n The article concludes:<\/p>\n In 2014, Charles B. Strozier, professor of history at the City University of New York, asserted that \u201cenvironmental stressors and political violence are connected in surprising ways\u201d and suggested driving hybrid cars as a way to thwart the Taliban\u2019s war on girls.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIf more Americans knew how glacial melt contributes to catastrophic weather in Afghanistan \u2014 potentially strengthening the Taliban and imperiling Afghan girls who want to attend school \u2014 would we drive more hybrids and use millions fewer plastic bags?\u201d Strozier asked rhetorically. \u201cHow would elections and legislation be influenced?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n I hate to disagree with the learned professor, but Islam has been waging war on women long before the automobile was invented. Sharia Law is the basis for the Taliban’s war on girls. Sharia Law goes back to the founding of Islam.
