The Epoch Times<\/a> reported the following today:<\/p>\n

An official in the Georgia<\/a> secretary of state\u2019s office was the only source for at least one story that falsely claimed former President Donald Trump told an investigator with the office to \u201cfind the fraud.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan Fuchs, deputy secretary of state, relayed details of the conversation to The Washington Post<\/a>, an official with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger confirmed to The Epoch Times.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fuchs was not on the call herself. She was told about the conversation by Frances Watson, the investigator.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A recording of the call recently emerged from a records request, showing that the Post and a slew of other outlets had falsely reported Trump uttering several phrases.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The office of Raffensperger, a Republican, says Fuchs did not present details of the conversation as verbatim.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Secretary of State\u2019s Office\u2019s first reports of its investigator\u2019s phone conversation with President Trump relied on the investigator\u2019s recollection. Information about the content of the call was never presented as a word-for-word transcript,\u201d a spokesperson with the office told The Epoch Times via email.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That story was not only widely reported, it was used a part of the second impeachment trial of President Trump.<\/p>\n

The article reports on the quiet corrections being made:<\/p>\n

The Post said<\/strong><\/a> that it \u201cmisquoted\u201d Trump, \u201cbased on information provided by a source.\u201d It also outed Fuchs as its source, after previously describing<\/a> her as an individual familiar with the call.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Associated Press in its correction<\/a> used similar wording in explaining that it \u201cerroneously reported\u201d that Trump pressured Watson to \u201cfind the fraud,\u201d and that if she did, she would be a national hero.<\/strong><\/p>\n

CNN offered<\/a> an editor\u2019s note in stating that its initial version \u201cpresented paraphrasing of the President\u2019s comments to the Georgia elections investigator as direct quotes.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
