The article also notes that when Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund asked House and Senate security officials for permission to request that the D.C. National Guard be placed on standby in case he needed quick backup, he was turned down. Sund has since resigned his post.<\/p>\n The article notes the problems with the claim that President Trump encouraged the riots:<\/p>\n And while the Washington Post<\/em> clumsily attempts to blame President Trump for the violence \u2013 despite the President calling for \u201cpeaceful\u201d protests and the \u201ccheering on\u201d of Congressmen<\/a> \u2013 their own article admits the \u201cfirst wave of protesters arrived at the Capitol about 12:40pm.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n President Trump\u2019s speech didn\u2019t conclude until 1:11pm<\/a>, and with at least a 45-minute walk between the two locations with crowd-related delays, that would put the first people from Trump\u2019s speech at Capitol Hill no earlier than 1:56pm \u2013 a full hour and sixteen minutes after troublemakers arrived.<\/strong><\/p>\n In fact, rioters who breached the perimeter would have had to leave before Trump\u2019s speech even began (at 12pm precisely<\/a>) to make it in time for the events as they are detailed by authorities.<\/strong><\/p>\n Here are some of the excerpts from the speech President Trump made on January 6th (from a transcript at rev.com<\/a>):<\/p>\n Donald Trump: (16:25<\/a>)<\/strong> After this, we\u2019re going to walk down and I\u2019ll be there with you. \nOur media is not free. It\u2019s not fair. It suppresses thought. It suppresses speech, and it\u2019s become the enemy of the people. It\u2019s become the enemy of the people. It\u2019s the biggest problem we have in this country. No third world countries would even attempt to do what we caught them doing and you\u2019ll hear about that in just a few minutes.
