Nimitz and its strike group have been ordered to the Persian Gulf in case there is an Iranian response to the killing of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, 59, the Head of Iran\u2019s nuclear program.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cThere were no specific threats that triggered the return of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group,\u201d Commander Rebecca Rebarich, spokeswoman for the U.S. Navy\u2019s Bahrain-based Fifth Fleet, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/world\/articles\/2020-11-28\/us-aircraft-carrier-deploys-to-gulf-navy-says-unrelated-to-specific-threats\">statement<\/a>. \u201cThis action ensures we have sufficient capability available to respond to any threat and to deter any adversary from acting against our troops during the force reduction.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cThe official said the move was decided before news came of the assassination of a prominent Iranian nuclear scientist. But the movement of the US forces is an increased deterrence message to Iran regardless the official noted,\u201d CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/barbarastarrcnn\/status\/1332427884947009545\">reported<\/a>. \u201cThe movement puts increased American military firepower and thousands of personnel into the region through the end of the Trump Administration. It may be up to President-elect Joe Biden to decide when to withdraw them.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The sending of this Carrier Strike Group is a way for America to say we are not leading from behind and we will protect our interests in the area. The fact that America has so strongly stood with Israel is one of many reasons that peace treaties are being made between Israel and Arab countries.
