Government job losses subtracted from the total.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Meanwhile, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/charts\/employment-situation\/civilian-labor-force-participation-rate.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bureau of Labor Statistics<\/a> reported that the Workforce Participation Rate went from 61.4 in September to 61.7 in October.<\/p>\n<p>CNBC reports:<\/p>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Employment growth was better than expected in October and the unemployment rate fell sharply even as the U.S. faces the challenge of surging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/11\/06\/coronavirus-live-updates.html\">coronavirus<\/a> cases and the impact they could have on the nascent economic recovery.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The Labor Department reported Friday that nonfarm payrolls increased by 638,000 and the unemployment rate was at 6.9%. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for a payroll gain of 530,000 and an unemployment rate of 7.7%, a touch lower than the September level of 7.9%.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"BoxInline-container  \" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\n<div id=\"BoxInline-ArticleBody-5\" class=\"BoxInline-container\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\" data-module=\"mps-slot\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>October\u2019s gain was just slightly off the September pace of 672,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have asked this questions before.
