New York Times<\/strong><\/a> luminary Nikole Hannah-Jones, architect of the Pulitzer Prize-winning 1619 Project, touched off a social-media uproar Friday after drawing a distinction between being \u201cpolitically black and being racially black.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a difference between being politically black and being racially black,\u201d tweeted Ms. Hannah-Jones<\/a>. \u201cI am not defending anyone, but we all know this and should stop pretending that we don\u2019t.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite insisting that she was not defending \u201canyone,\u201d Ms. Hannah-Jones<\/a> made her comments shortly after former Vice President Joseph R. Biden suggested that only Democrat-voting blacks are truly black in a heated exchange with radio host Charlamagne Tha God.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll tell you, if you have a problem figuring out whether you\u2019re for me or for Trump, then you ain\u2019t black,\u201d said Mr. Biden.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ms. Hannah-Jones<\/a> deleted her tweet because \u201cthe racist trolls are here,\u201d but also responded to critics who accused her of demeaning black voters who support conservatives, as captured in a thread on Twitchy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think he was saying you are not racially black, or racially black enough if you vote for Trump. I think he was speaking about politics, yes,\u201d tweeted Ms. Hannah-Jones<\/a> on her \u201cIda Bae Wells\u201d account.<\/strong><\/p>\n

She added that Mr. Biden, the putative 2020 Democratic presidential nominee, was \u201cclearly saying no black person would vote for a white nationalist with his policies,\u201d apparently referring to Mr. Trump.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So the President who gave us the lowest black unemployment ever recorded is a white nationalist? Wow.\u00a0 That takes some serious logic leaps. The Democrats always pull out the race card when they feel that they are losing an election. Hopefully, there are enough people of all races to realize that the Trump presidency has been good to people of every race. I look forward to the day when all people vote ideas rather than race.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
