{"id":37561,"date":"2019-11-16T12:08:16","date_gmt":"2019-11-16T17:08:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=37561"},"modified":"2019-11-16T12:08:16","modified_gmt":"2019-11-16T17:08:16","slug":"the-mainstream-media-vs-the-truth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=37561","title":{"rendered":"The Mainstream Media vs. The Truth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/rich-noyes\/2019\/11\/15\/oops-white-house-release-exposes-fake-news-new-york-times?fbclid=IwAR0Y0-45PvjpC9p03b5LDsOmlnMnnpPnqA3DX4wc-d-nZVA7o5R2cTQ8gno\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Newsbusters<\/a> posted an article highlighting more dishonest reporting from The New York Times.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Seven weeks ago, after the White House released its official summary of a July 25 phone call between President Trump and the Ukrainian President, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/09\/25\/us\/politics\/trump-ukraine-obsession.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>New York Times<\/em> noted<\/a> that the two had previously spoken on April 21 and wrote the following about that conversation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><strong>When Ukraine elected its new leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, on April 21, Mr. Trump seized on the moment as an opportunity to press his case&#8230;.He urged Mr. Zelensky to coordinate with Mr. Giuliani and to pursue investigations of \u201ccorruption,\u201d according to people familiar with the call, the details of which have not previously been reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>On Friday morning, the White House released its <a href=\"http:\/\/cdn.cnn.com\/cnn\/2019\/images\/11\/15\/4-21-19.trump-zelensky.call.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">official summary of that earlier call<\/a>, and it completely debunked the Times reporting that appeared in a front-page September 26 article. The official summary shows a light-hearted conversation about Zelensky\u2019s election victory, Trump\u2019s promise that a \u201cvery, very high level\u201d delegation would attend his inauguration, and an invitation for Zelensky to visit the White House.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>There\u2019s not the slightest indication that he \u201cseized on the moment as an opportunity to press his case,\u201d nor any reference to Joe Biden, Rudy Giuliani, or anything else suggested in the <em>Times<\/em> story.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The <em>Times<\/em> account of the today\u2019s White House release is silent on the <em>Times<\/em> earlier, apparently false reporting. But it does complain about how \u201ca White House readout of the call in April provides a different account.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Reporters Mark Mazzetti and Eileen Sullivan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/11\/15\/us\/politics\/trump-phone-call-transcript.html\">point out<\/a>: \u201cIn that summary, provided to reporters shortly after the call took place, the administration said that Mr. Trump promised to work with Zelensky to \u2018implement reforms that strengthen democracy, increase prosperity and root out corruption.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Indeed, today\u2019s White House release does contradict the White House report released at the time of the call, but the erroneous September 26 <em>Times<\/em>\u2019 story does not rely on the \u201creadout\u201d as the basis for its wrong claims, but rather \u201cpeople familiar with the call.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>In other words, the <em>Times<\/em> can\u2019t blame the White House for its mistake in September. That\u2019s all on them, and their anonymous source. (Maybe secret sources <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/bill-dagostino\/2019\/10\/29\/study-most-tvs-impeachment-news-pushes-claims-anonymous-sources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">aren\u2019t the best sources after all<\/a>.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is agreement that there was corruption in Ukraine. There is also agreement that the corruption needed to be cleaned up.<\/p>\n<p>A friend of mine who is a lawyer who follows these events very closely recently wrote:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Then I discovered that the day after VP Joe Biden bribed the Ukraine government into firing the Prosecutor who was investigating his son\u2019s company, the Ukraine court released $23 million the government had seized as part of the investigation. Nobody knows what happened to the $23 million.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>What we do know is the $23 million was part of the $50 Million in USAid that 26 Democrats shepherded through the United States Congress in 2014. All 26 received campaign contributions from Ukraine\u2019s new lobbyist: Secretary of State John Kerry\u2019s former chief of staff. How dare the President look into changing the USA\u2019s foreign Policy!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Do you really wonder where the missing money ended up?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Maybe it&#8217;s time to take a really good look at where our foreign aid actually goes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday Newsbusters posted an article highlighting more dishonest reporting from The New York Times.
