I wondered what was going on when I heard that Nancy Pelosi was going to take a vote in the House on impeachment. That doesn’t make sense–it forces Representatives in swing districts to go on the record on an issue their constituents do not support. It would also allow the President to call witnesses and to cross examine witnesses. Yesterday The Conservative Treehouse<\/a> posted an article explaining what is going on. I strongly suggest that you follow the link and read the entire article–it is complicated and includes a lot of lawyer concepts.<\/p>\n

On Thursday of this week Speaker Pelosi is bringing to the floor a resolution to affirm<\/a> her previous declaration of an \u201cOfficial House Inquiry\u201d.\u00a0 Mrs. Pelosi is very purposefully and carefully telling reporters this is not a \u201cHouse resolution on impeachment\u201d.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaker Pelosi is holding a vote, a resolution, to affirm her previous declaration of a House \u201cinquiry\u201d.\u00a0 The resolution is currently being written by Lawfare. Pelosi is not delivering a House \u201cResolution on Impeachment\u201d for a vote, because if she did hold a vote on an impeachment resolution, the minority and the Executive branch would gain rights therein.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a House vote to show support for Pelosi\u2019s previous unilateral decree.\u00a0\u00a0 Right now the rules committee<\/a> is adding language to the resolution that will provide additional one-sided support for a completely partisan process: \u201cand for other purposes\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Note in this video, Pelosi is careful to say \u201cthis is not an impeachment resolution\u201d:<\/strong><\/p>\n

…It is not an \u201cimpeachment resolution\u201d, it is a resolution to support the already existing \u201cimpeachment inquiry\u201d. Pelosi and the Lawfare crew are playing games.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Additionally, notice that like Pelosi, Chairman Schiff is careful not to use the words \u201cimpeachment investigation\u201d, but rather says \u201cimpeachment inquiry\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the money quote:<\/p>\n

The rules for an \u201cimpeachment investigation\u201d would provide rights for the minority and also rights for the Executive branch.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

So instead of having a House vote to authorize an impeachment investigation, with subsequent rights for the minority; they are having a House vote to affirm the \u201cimpeachment inquiry\u201d with an entirely different set of House rules that do not include rights for the minority.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
