The American Thinker<\/a> posted an article today about presidential candidate Joe Biden that is somewhat troubling. All of us who have watched Vice-President Biden over the years understand that he often says things that are really not appropriate for someone in his position. The press has been very willing to overlook his gaffes, and there is no reason to believe that they will not continue to do so in the future. However, some of the gaffes are getting a bit concerning.<\/p>\n

The article reports a recent statement by Vice-President Biden:<\/p>\n

\u201c…those kids in Parkland came up to see me when I was vice president.\u201d But when they visited Capitol Hill to talk with members of Congress, lawmakers were \u201cbasically cowering, not wanting to see them. They did not want to face it on camera.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The article reminds us:<\/p>\n

The kids could not have seen him in the Vice President\u2019s Capitol office \u2013 as presiding officer of the Senate \u2013 since Biden was no longer the occupant of that office.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Biden fantasied this meeting and presented it as fact in public.<\/strong><\/p>\n

His recent gaffes<\/a> already are horrendous. \u201cPoor kids are just as bright, just as talented, as white kids\u201d clearly indicates a mind that sees non-white (presumably black) kids as poor and in need of defense of their intellectual capabilities. \u201cWe choose truth over facts\u201d plays directly into the progressives\u2019 dismissal of facts as less important than the \u201chigher truth\u201d of the narrative they want to sell. \u00a0Or who prize being \u201cmorally correct\u201d over mere facts, as AOC has done.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But those disturbing comments can be written off as a poor choice of words. Claiming to have met people in circumstances that did not happen is of a different order entirely. It indicates a mind that is not grounded in reality.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have no idea what the statements about the Parkland kids mean in terms of the former Vice-President’s mental health, but they are disturbing.<\/p>\n
