In case you successfully avoided watching the hearings, here is another highlight.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>In his testimony on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, former special counsel Robert Mueller was asked repeatedly about why he didn\u2019t indict President Trump after concluding his 22-month investigation into whether the president or his campaign colluded with Russia to alter the outcome of the 2016 election.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu asked the question explicitly.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cThe reason you did not indict Donald Trump\u2026 is because of the OLC decision. Is that correct?\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Mueller responded: \u201cThat is correct.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The \u201cOLC decision\u201d is a ruling from the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) within the Department of Justice (DOJ) \u2014 dating back to the time of Richard Nixon and Watergate \u2014 that says a sitting president cannot be indicted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Several other Democrats asked the same question, eliciting the same response from Mueller.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>But Rep. Debbie Lesko, a Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, cut through through the mess when she pointed out that Mueller said exactly the opposite in his 448-page report.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>&#8220;That is not what you said in the report, and it\u2019s not what you told Attorney General Barr,\u201d Lesko said. \u201cAnd in fact, in a joint statement that you released with DOJ on May 29 after your press conference, your office issued a joint statement with the Department of Justice that said: \u2018The Attorney General has previously stated that the special counsel repeatedly affirmed that he was not saying, that but for the OLC opinion, he would have found the President obstructed justice,\u2019 \u201d she said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Lesko asked Mueller if he stood by that statement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cI would have to look at it more closely before I said I agree,\u201d Mueller said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So which is it?
