{"id":35602,"date":"2019-03-09T20:48:00","date_gmt":"2019-03-10T01:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=35602"},"modified":"2019-03-09T20:48:00","modified_gmt":"2019-03-10T01:48:00","slug":"our-southern-border","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=35602","title":{"rendered":"Our Southern Border"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnsnews.com\/news\/article\/terence-p-jeffrey\/rio-grande-valley-border-chief-we-have-intercepted-migrants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNS News<\/a> posted an article yesterday detailing what is happening at the southern border of America.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Rodolfo Karisch, chief of the U.S. Border Patrol\u2019s Rio Grande Valley Sector,<a href=\"https:\/\/homeland.house.gov\/hearings-and-markups\/hearings\/cbp-workforce-challenges-exploring-solutions-address-recruitment-and\"> told the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Oversight, Management and Accountabilit<\/a>y on Thursday, that the Border Patrol in his sector has intercepted illegal aliens trying to enter the United States \u201cfrom 40 different countries, including Bangladesh, Turkey, Romania and China.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u201cI want to provide some perspective on the challenges facing our men and women at the Southwest border,\u201d Karisch told the committee in his opening statement. \u201cThough I cannot speak for all of the components of Customs and Border Protection, I can provide a first-hand account of the complex border-security environment and ask for your assistance in helping our frontline men and women.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article includes some statistics to illustrate what is happening at our southern border:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>U.S. Customs and Border Protection <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.cnsnews.com\/attachments\/fy2017-border_apprehensions.pdf\">has published a spread sheet listing the number of illegal aliens apprehended in each border sector in 2017<\/a> by their nation of citizenship.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Of the 303,916 who were apprehended that year along the U.S.-Mexico border, only 127,938\u2014or approximately 42.1 percent\u2014were from Mexico.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>1,364 of the deportable aliens intercepted on the U.S.-Mexico border in 2017 were from the People\u2019s Republic of China. Of these, 702 were intercepted in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>564 deportable aliens from Bangladesh were intercepted on the U.S.-Mexico border in 2017. Of these, 304 were intercepted in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>433 deportable aliens from Romania were intercepted on the U.S.-Mexico border in 2017. Of these, 94 were intercepted in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>35 deportable aliens from Turkey were intercepted on the U.S.-Mexico border in 2017.
