Scott Johnson<\/a> at Power Line<\/a> posted an article today about Michael Caputo<\/a>. Michael Caputo is an ordinary citizen who worked on the Trump presidential campaign. On Tuesday, he appeared before the Senate Intelligence Committee<\/a> and gave his testimony. Please follow the link above to read the entire article. It is chilling to anyone who believes that Americans should be free to volunteer for any candidate’s campaign they choose without facing enormous negative consequences.<\/p>\n

The article reports on Michael Caputo’s interview with Tucker Carlson<\/a> These are some quotes from that interview:<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re still looking at Russian<\/a> collusion, still looking for it\u2026In my mind, if anybody thinks that Russia collusion is off the table, they haven\u2019t visited with the Mueller team.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cThey know more about the Trump campaign<\/a> than anybody that worked there and they know more about what I did in 2016 than I do myself.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

” What are they looking at? \u201cI don\u2019t want to interfere with the investigation. I was warned about that.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Did he construe that as a threat? \u201cI\u2019m not going to be friending them today on Facebook<\/a>, if that\u2019s what you\u2019re asking.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s not nice but it\u2019s nothing compared to the $125,000 in legal bills that I\u2019ve stacked up for nothing.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cWhat\u2019s happening to me and my family is happening to many other people in this investigation and I\u2019m just a witness. I can\u2019t imagine if somebody\u2019s a subject or a target what they\u2019re going to go through.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the statement from the interview that I find chilling:<\/p>\n

\u201cI certainly didn\u2019t sign up for this when I went to work for the Trump campaign and I will never, ever work on another Republican campaign for as long as I live\u2026and I think that\u2019s part of this, Tucker. This is a punishment strategy. I think they want to destroy the president, they want to destroy his family, they want to destroy his businesses, they want to destroy his friends so that no billionaire, say, in 15 years wakes up and tells his wife, you know what, they country\u2019s broken and only I can fix it\u2026.His wife will say, \u2018are you crazy Did you see what happened to Donald Trump<\/a>?\u2019 That\u2019s what this is about.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Caputo explains that he thinks this is the Democrat’s new strategy–intimidate people who work on Republican campaigns so that no one will be willing to work on them.<\/p>\n

Mr. Caputo concludes:<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the president should not go anywhere near this [Mueller team]. I think in a lot of ways it\u2019s a trap. I think the president is clear on potential Russian collusion. I think the campaign is in the clear. In the end if they want to get the president, they\u2019re going to try to trip him up in an interview like this and my advice, after being through it, is stay away<\/em>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cI have a lot of respect for Director Mueller. When this thing first started I had some faith that it was going to be done fairly. I\u2019m not so sanguine about it anymore.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m very confident there was no Russian collusion. I\u2019m very confident that the president is in the clear here. I\u2019m very confident that in the end they\u2019re going to find the holes that they\u2019re digging to be empty, but they are digging and they\u2019re going to continue to dig.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is long past time to send Mr. Mueller packing. There was no Russian collusion on the part of the Republicans<\/a>, and he is obviously not interested in the Russian involvement in the GPS Fusion dossier that the Democrats put together. There is no way this can be considered a fair or legitimate investigation.<\/p>\n
