{"id":33174,"date":"2018-04-21T21:39:17","date_gmt":"2018-04-22T01:39:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=33174"},"modified":"2018-04-21T21:39:17","modified_gmt":"2018-04-22T01:39:17","slug":"some-of-the-fallout-from-the-inspector-generals-report-has-begun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=33174","title":{"rendered":"Some Of The Fallout From The Inspector General&#8217;s Report Has Begun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Andrew McCarthy\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Andrew_McCarthy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Andrew McCarthy<\/a> posted an article at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2018\/04\/andrew-mccabe-collusion-obama-justice-department-clinton-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Review<\/a> reporting that the Justice Department\u2019s inspector general has referred <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Andrew McCabe\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Andrew_McCabe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Andrew McCabe<\/a> to the U.S. attorney\u2019s office in Washington, D.C., for a possible false-statements prosecution. Andrew McCarthy points out that the important fact here is not that Andrew McCabe lied, but what he lied about. Andrew McCabe leaked a conversation in which the Obama Justice Department pressured the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Federal Bureau of Investigation\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.895216,-77.025131&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=38.895216,-77.025131 (Federal%20Bureau%20of%20Investigation)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation noopener\">FBI<\/a> to stand down on the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Clinton Foundation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clintonfoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener\">Clinton Foundation<\/a> investigation. He later lied about leaking the information.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The report concludes that the former deputy director \u201clacked candor,\u201d the standard for internal discipline at the FBI, from which McCabe was fired. It is a charge similar to those spelled out in the federal penal code\u2019s false-statements and perjury laws. Specifically, the report cites four instances of lack of candor; more comprehensively, McCabe is depicted as an insidious operator.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>About two weeks before Election Day 2016, the then\u2013deputy director was stung by a <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> story that questioned his fitness to lead an investigation of <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Hillary Clinton\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hillary_Clinton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Hillary Clinton<\/a>, the Democrats\u2019 nominee. McCabe\u2019s wife had received $675,000 in donations from a political action committee controlled by the Clintons\u2019 notorious confidant, <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Virginia\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=37.5,-79.0&amp;spn=3.0,3.0&amp;q=37.5,-79.0 (Virginia)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation noopener\">Virginia<\/a>\u2019s then\u2013<a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Terry McAuliffe\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Terry_McAuliffe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">governor Terry McAuliffe<\/a> \u2014 an eye-popping amount for a state senate campaign (which Mrs. McCabe lost). It was perfectly reasonable to question McCabe\u2019s objectivity: The justice system\u2019s integrity hinges on the perception, as well as the reality, of impartiality.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The reporter on the story, Devlin Barrett (then with the <em>Journal<\/em>, now at the <em>Washington Post<\/em>), soon had questions for the Bureau for a follow-up he was working on: Back in July, according to Barrett\u2019s sources, McCabe had instructed agents to refrain from making overt moves that could alert the public that Hillary Clinton, the Democrats\u2019 nominee, was yet again on the FBI\u2019s radar \u2014 this time, owing to a probe of the Clinton Foundation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article concludes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The Obama Justice Department \u201cguidance\u201d about the Clinton Foundation probe reminds us of their approach to the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Hillary Clinton email controversy\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hillary_Clinton_email_controversy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Clinton emails<\/a> caper \u2014 call it a \u201cmatter\u201d not an investigation; do not use the grand jury; instead of subpoenas, try saying \u201cpretty please\u201d to obtain evidence; do not ask the co-conspirators hard questions because they\u2019re lawyers so that might infringe attorney\u2013client privilege; let the witnesses sit in on each other\u2019s interviews; let the suspects represent each other as lawyers; if someone lies, ignore it; if someone incriminates himself, give him immunity; have the attorney general meet with the main subject\u2019s former-president husband on the tarmac a few days before dropping the whole thing; oh, and don\u2019t forget to write up the exoneration statement months before key witnesses \u2014 including the main subject \u2014 are interviewed.<a class=\"comments-launch__button--open\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2018\/04\/andrew-mccabe-collusion-obama-justice-department-clinton-campaign\/#\" data-component=\"postComments\" data-target=\"comments-flyout\" data-init=\"true\">\u00a0 <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>With the Clintons, though, enough is never enough. Obama <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States Department of Justice\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8933333333,-77.025&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=38.8933333333,-77.025 (United%20States%20Department%20of%20Justice)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation noopener\">Justice Department officials<\/a>, figuring they were only a few days from succeeding in their quest to become Clinton Justice Department officials, decided to try to disappear the Clinton Foundation investigation, too.<\/strong><\/span><strong> (The underline is mine.)<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>After nearly two years of digging, there is still no proof of Trump-campaign collusion in <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Elections in Russia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Elections_in_Russia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Russian election<\/a>-meddling. But we have collusion all right: the executive branch\u2019s law-enforcement and intelligence apparatus placed by the Obama administration in the service of the Clinton campaign. To find that, you don\u2019t need to dig. You just need to open your eyes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The picture here is becoming very clear&#8211;Hillary was going to be elected, and all criminal investigations regarding the Clintons were going to disappear. We were very close to becoming a country where justice was not blind&#8211;it was well-funded and biased. Hopefully we can get some of the swamp drained in a reasonable amount of time.
