Chappaquiddick was bad enough, but there were other things done by Ted Kennedy that were simply not right. His treatment of Robert Bork is one example, but there is another example of bad behavior that borders on treason.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/spectator.org\/chappaquiddick-wasnt-the-only-scandal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The American Spectator<\/a> posted an article today that reminds us of something Ted Kennedy did that was truly unacceptable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">The article states:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">In 1991, when Russian President <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Boris Yeltsin\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Boris_Yeltsin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Boris Yeltsin<\/a> opened the archives of the Soviet Central Committee, Western researchers quickly descended on Moscow to plow through the treasure trove of previously classified official documents.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">Among those researchers was Tim Sebastian, a reporter for the\u00a0<i><a title=\"Times of London\" href=\"http:\/\/www.timesonline.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">London Times<\/a><\/i>\u00a0and the BBC who found a May 14, 1983 letter from <a title=\"KGB\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/KGB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KGB<\/a> chief <a title=\"Viktor Chebrikov\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Viktor_Chebrikov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Viktor Chebrikov<\/a> to Soviet General Secretary Yuri Andropov. Bearing the highest security classification, it summarized a confidential offer by <a title=\"Ted Kennedy\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.88094,-77.0714&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=38.88094,-77.0714%20(Ted%20Kennedy)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senator Ted Kennedy<\/a> to the Soviet leadership to help stop <a title=\"Ronald Reagan\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=34.25899,-118.82043&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=34.25899,-118.82043%20(Ronald%20Reagan)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Ronald Reagan<\/a>\u2019s aggressive, anti-Soviet defense policies.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">The letter was written as the debate was heating up over Reagan\u2019s proposed deployment of intermediate range missiles to counter the Soviets\u2019 medium range weapons in Eastern Europe.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">\u00a0Sebastian reported his find in an article titled \u201cTeddy, the KGB and the top secret file\u201d which appeared in the February 2, 1992, <i>London Times<\/i>. And there the story remained unheeded and unheralded until 2006 when historian <a title=\"Paul Kengor\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_Kengor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul Kengor<\/a> published <i><a title=\"The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Crusader-Ronald-Reagan-Fall-Communism\/dp\/0061189243%3FSubscriptionId%3D0G81C5DAZ03ZR9WH9X82%26tag%3Dzem-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3D0061189243\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism<\/a>\u00a0<\/i>in which he discussed Kennedy\u2019s secret approach to the Soviets.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">In an appendix to his book, Kengor reproduced Chebrikov\u2019s classified missive unedited and unabridged along with extensive documentation establishing its authenticity.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">This is an example of partisan politics going well past the borders of the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667&amp;spn=0.1,0.1&amp;q=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667 (United%20States)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation noopener\">United States<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">The article at The American Spectator illustrates that media bias is not a new thing:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">So, what was the reaction of the mainstream media when this alarming document was made public? According to Paul Kengor, not a single American news organization picked up the\u00a0<i>London Times\u00a0<\/i>story.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">Similarly, when Kengor published his book which discussed and reproduced the letter, he \u201ccouldn\u2019t get a single major news source to do a story on it. CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC. Not one covered it.\u201d And \u201call mainstream sources\u201d turned down his proffered op-eds regarding Chebrikov\u2019s letter.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><b><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">Think about that. Here is a classified document found in the Soviet archives from the head of the secret police to the General Secretary spelling out an outrageous and treasonous political plot by Kennedy to enlist the <a title=\"Soviet Union\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Soviet_Union\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Soviet Union<\/a>\u2019s assistance in his campaign for the presidency. And not one major media outlet uttered so much as a peep about it.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">So the voters of Massachusetts never had a chance to know that Ted Kennedy, their Senator, had attempted to work with the Russians to avoid the election of Ronald Reagan. Don&#8217;t you think they were entitled to know that? Well, wait a minute. These are Massachusetts voters, and he was a Kennedy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">The article concludes:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">The media\u2019s failure to even report or discuss the discovery and contents of Chebrikov\u2019s letter is but one more example of their dishonesty. The fact that they have ignored this story should tell us all that we need to know about their integrity, fairness, and allegiance to the truth. How many more examples of their blatant bias and duplicity do we need before we completely discount all of their reportage as nothing more than progressive agitprop and propaganda?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12.5pt;\">As a wise man once said, if the mainstream media didn\u2019t have double standards, they would have no standards at all.
