Unfortunately the article is still extremely relevant.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Calling it a \u201cmedical mystery of the first order,\u201d scientists are baffled by the ability of <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Party leaders of the United States Senate\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Party_leaders_of_the_United_States_Senate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Senate Majority Leader<\/a> <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Mitch McConnell\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mitch_McConnell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Mitch McConnell<\/a> and House Speaker Paul Ryan to stand upright without the benefit of spines.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Doctors at the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"University of Minnesota Medical School\" href=\"http:\/\/www.med.umn.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener\">University of Minnesota Medical School<\/a>, who have been studying the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Skeletal formula\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Skeletal_formula\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">skeletal structures<\/a> of both <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Republican Party (United States)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Republican_Party_%28United_States%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Republicans<\/a> for months, believe that their ability to stand, walk, and even break into a brisk trot when confronted by reporters\u2019 questions is \u201cvirtually inexplicable.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cThe fact that they can do these things without the aid of spines makes McConnell and Ryan anomalies in the animal kingdom,\u201d said Dr. Davis Logsdon. \u201cAccording to everything <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Medicine\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Medicine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">medical science<\/a> teaches us, their bodies should be collapsing to the ground in two heaps.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8230;Logsdon<\/strong> <strong>said that the anatomies of McConnell and Ryan require further study, and that there was growing public support for both men to be dissected.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is nothing I can add to this!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following comments are from an article in The New Yorker from January 30, 2017.
