The Washington Examiner<\/a> posted an article today stating that President<\/a> Trump has pardoned Kristian Saucier. “Who is Kristian Saucier?” you ask. He is the former Navy<\/a> submariner who was sentenced to a year in prison during the 2016 campaign for taking pictures inside a nuclear submarine.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

Saucier, now 31, was 22 years old when he took the cellphone photos in 2009. He pleaded guilty<\/a> to one count of unauthorized retention of national defense information and his attorneys unsuccessfully requested the “Clinton deal,” meaning little if any punishment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The six photos found on a cellphone Saucier discarded were deemed \u201cconfidential,\u201d the lowest level of classification, even though some depicted the vessel\u2019s nuclear reactor<\/a>. Clinton, by contrast, sent and received highly classified information<\/a> on a private email server. In pleading guilty, Saucier admitted destroying evidence after being questioned.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saucier told the Washington Examiner<\/em> earlier this year that a felony conviction<\/a> made it hard to find work. He works as a garbage man<\/a> to support his family. While in prison, the family’s cars were repossessed and his home is in foreclosure.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re struggling,\u201d Saucier said in January, describing<\/a> frequent calls from credit card debt<\/a> collectors and an electricity bill payment plan. \u201cNo one will hire me because I\u2019m a felon … All the skills I worked so hard for in the military are useless.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Before the pardon, Saucier had several months left of wearing an ankle monitor<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This man’s life was ruined because of pictures on a discarded cell phone. He should not have taken the pictures, but the case definitely provides a contrast to the way Hillary Clinton<\/a>‘s private server was handled.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
