It is the obligation of the government to insure that never happens again. The surveillance of the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Donald Trump presidential campaign, 2016\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Donald_Trump_presidential_campaign%2C_2016\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Trump campaign<\/a> and transition team makes the wiretapping engaged in by the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Watergate scandal\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Watergate_scandal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">Watergate burglars<\/a> look like child&#8217;s play. The use of government agencies for political purposes was something that happened more than once in the Obama Administration&#8211;the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"www.irs.gov\" href=\"http:\/\/www.irs.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener\">IRS<\/a> was eventually forced to pay fines to the conservative organizations it refused to grant <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Tax exemption\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tax_exemption\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">tax-exempt status<\/a> to. The purpose of not granting the tax-exempt status was to silence organizations engaging in conservative speech during the 2012 elections. Regardless of where you stand on the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Political spectrum\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Political_spectrum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">political spectrum<\/a>, that is a dangerous thing. Remember, it is always possible that someday the shoe will be on the other foot.
