{"id":32616,"date":"2018-02-13T18:54:52","date_gmt":"2018-02-13T23:54:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=32616"},"modified":"2018-02-13T18:54:52","modified_gmt":"2018-02-13T23:54:52","slug":"revealing-their-true-motive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=32616","title":{"rendered":"Revealing Their True Motive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For years we have been hearing the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Center for American Progress\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.900373,-77.031047&amp;spn=1.0,1.0&amp;q=38.900373,-77.031047 (Center%20for%20American%20Progress)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation noopener\">Center for American Progress<\/a> say that <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Voter ID laws\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Voter_ID_laws\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">voter ID<\/a> laws are equal to <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Voter suppression\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Voter_suppression\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">voter suppression<\/a>. The charge is somewhat ridiculous when you consider that the vast majority of <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667&amp;spn=0.1,0.1&amp;q=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667 (United%20States)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation noopener\">Americans<\/a> have <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Identity document\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Identity_document\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">picture ID<\/a> of some sort because it is needed for so many simple things&#8211;cashing a check, entering a federal building, boarding an airplane, buying alcohol or cigarettes, opening a bank account, etc. Nevertheless, the Center for American Progress and other leftist groups claim that voter ID is voter suppression&#8211;they never mention that states that require voter ID also provide free ID cards for anyone who needs them.<\/p>\n<p>Well, the motives of the Center for American Progress are showing. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2018\/feb\/13\/liberal-group-restrict-overseas-military-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Washington Times<\/a> posted an article today about the Center for American Progress&#8217;s efforts to make our elections more secure.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>After years of accusing states of \u201cvoter suppression,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/center-for-american-progress\/\">Center for American Progress<\/a> wants to make it tougher for overseas military to vote in the name of election security.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The left-wing <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Public policy\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Public_policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">public-policy group<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/press\/release\/2018\/02\/12\/446297\/release-cap-election-security-report-finds-states-remain-vulnerable-hacking-systemic-failure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">issued<\/a> Monday a report, \u201cElection Security in All 50 States,\u201d that called for stricter standards to prevent cyber-meddling in elections by foreign governments, including banning military stationed abroad from submitting ballots via email or fax.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>One state that allows such vote-casting is <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Colorado\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=39.0,-105.5&amp;spn=3.0,3.0&amp;q=39.0,-105.5 (Colorado)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation noopener\">Colorado<\/a>. The center called on the state to \u201cprohibit voters stationed or living overseas from returning voted ballots electronically.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"read-more-show\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u00a0\u201cRegardless of the state\u2019s secure ballot return system for electronically voted ballots, we recommend that all voted ballots be returned by mail or delivered in person,\u201d said the 245-page report.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Secretary of State of Colorado\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sos.state.co.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener\">Colorado Secretary of State<\/a> Wayne Williams <a href=\"https:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/accounts\/COSOS\/bulletins\/1da35d2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">defended<\/a> the practice, saying the state has incorporated safeguards to protect the integrity of ballots cast by military personnel living overseas.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cThey don\u2019t believe someone who works on a submarine should be allowed to vote. We do,\u201d said the Republican Williams in a statement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article notes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cPerhaps they think that Navy SEALS can swim ballots ashore, hand them off to Army paratroopers who can parachute into Colorado to drop off the ballots?\u201d asked the conservative website Colorado Peak Politics.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cYou can bet that if the military historically voted Democrat instead of Republican, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/center-for-american-progress\/\">Center for American Progress<\/a> would not have a problem with it,\u201d added Peak in a Monday <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradopeakpolitics.com\/2018\/02\/12\/astounding-stupidity-liberals-tell-colorado-not-to-let-military-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article reminds us of some of the past activities of the Center for American Progress:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The report comes as something of a departure for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/center-for-american-progress\/\">center<\/a>, given its record of fighting for greater ballot access, including same-day registration and making it easier for felons to vote, and against tighter rules aimed at combating voter fraud.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Founded by former Clinton and <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Presidency of Barack Obama\" href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener\">Obama White House<\/a> adviser John Podesta, who currently sits on its board, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/center-for-american-progress\/\">center<\/a> has opposed state efforts to require government-issued photo identification, scale back early-voting periods, and remove inactive voters from rolls.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The hypocrisy shown by the Center for American Progress is amazing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For years we have been hearing the Center for American Progress say that voter ID laws are equal to voter suppression.
