{"id":3234,"date":"2011-08-06T20:43:00","date_gmt":"2011-08-06T20:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=3234"},"modified":"2011-08-06T20:43:00","modified_gmt":"2011-08-06T20:43:00","slug":"facts_are_inconvient_things","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=3234","title":{"rendered":"Facts Are Inconvenient Things"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I really am tired of listening to Democrats blame George Bush for the deficits.&nbsp; The facts do not support the accusation, but somehow a lot of the press has neglected to look closely at the accusation.&nbsp; Byron York posted a story at the <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/politics\/2011\/08\/obama-partisans-ignore-facts-when-bashing-bush\">Washington Examiner<\/a> on Thursday detailing the actual facts.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s look at some of the facts:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p><strong>In 2003 the government collected $1.782 trillion in revenue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In 2004 the government collected $1.88 trillion in revenue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In 2005 the government collected $2.153 trillion in revenue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In 2006 the government collected $2.406 trillion in revenue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In 2007 the government collected $2.567 trillion in revenue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That doesn&#8217;t sound as if the tax cuts cost money.<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p><strong>In January 2001 the debt was $5.7 trillion.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In January 2005 the debt was $7.6 trillion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In January 2009 the debt was $10.6 trillion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Obviously the increase of $4.9 trillion over eight years is awful, but it pales in comparison to what President Obama has done in only two and a half hears.&nbsp; Our current debt is $14.4 trillion&#8211;an increase of almost $4 trillion in two and a half years.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Republicans overspent, but they only controlled Congress for four years.&nbsp; The rest of the time during the Bush administration, Congress was either controlled by the Democrats or split between the two parties.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Just a side note on all of this.&nbsp; Bill Clinton did not create a budget surplus&#8211;he was fortunate enough to be in office while the tech bubble was forming.&nbsp; The increase in tax revenue&nbsp;during the Clinton administration was due to a large increase in capital gains tax income as people began to cash in on the tech bubble.&nbsp; Unfortunately, George Bush was president when the bubble popped, but he still managed to increase tax revenue with tax cuts.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Think about it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I really am tired of listening to Democrats blame George Bush for the deficits.&nbsp; The facts do not support the accusation, but somehow a lot of the press has neglected to look closely at the accusation.&nbsp; Byron York posted a &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=3234\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3234","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3234","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=3234"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3234\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=3234"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=3234"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=3234"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
