Overall it is a positive report, although some numbers are not changing as rapidly as we might hope&#8211;the labor force <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Workforce\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Workforce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">participation rate<\/a> is holding steady at 62.7.<\/p>\n<p>There is a lot of good news in the report.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-government\/2018\/01\/05\/black-unemployment-rate-hits-time-low\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Breitbart<\/a> also posted an article about the jobs report.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the highlights from that article:<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;the unemployment rate for black Americans dropped to <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/data.bls.gov\/pdq\/SurveyOutputServlet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">just 6.8 percent<\/a>, which is the lowest ever recorded. Prior to this month, the previous record was 7.4 percent in 2000.<\/h2>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The Hispanic unemployment rate remains at a near record low of <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/empsit.t03.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">just 4.9 percent<\/a>, up just a bit from the record <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/empsit.t03.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">of 4.7 percent<\/a> in November of last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>White unemployment sits at 3.7 percent, while only 2.5 percent of Asians are unemployed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The overall unemployment rate is just <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/pdf\/empsit.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">4.1 percent<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article at Breitbart concludes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>With unemployment so low, job growth should mean wage gains. More jobs than people looking for them puts employees in the driver\u2019s seat. Also good news for workers is the Trump administration\u2019s crackdown on illegal immigration. This can only mean better wages and more job opportunities, especially for unskilled, entry, and blue-collar workers \u2014 those who have been left behind more than any other group.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That is good news for all Americans. As wages rise, it becomes less attractive to collect welfare.
