{"id":31956,"date":"2017-11-13T09:52:18","date_gmt":"2017-11-13T14:52:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=31956"},"modified":"2017-11-13T09:52:18","modified_gmt":"2017-11-13T14:52:18","slug":"this-is-the-way-to-end-free-speech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=31956","title":{"rendered":"This Is The Way To End Free Speech"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you believe that political debate is wrong and that only one side of a story should be told, you are probably in agreement with the actions of some of the sponsors of the Sean <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Hannity\" href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/hannity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener\">Hannity<\/a> show. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanthinker.com\/blog\/2017\/11\/sean_hannity_is_fighting_for_his_survival.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The American Thinker<\/a> posted an article today about the actions of some recent sponsors of the show.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>On Friday, Sean Hannity reignited efforts by enemies of his on the left to take him off the air via putting pressure on his advertisers to dump his show. His <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2017\/11\/10\/roy_moore_interviewed_by_hannity_generally_didnt_date_girls_in_late_teens_accusations_never_happened.html\">telephone interview with Senate nominee Roy Moore<\/a>, broadcast live on his radio show and replayed later on his nightly <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Fox News Channel\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fox_News_Channel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\">Fox News Channel<\/a> program, actually won more praise than might have been expected from a variety of analysts.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Hannity asked Moore tough questions and got the former judge to go on the record. The interview represented Moore\u2019s first spoken comments on the controversy since the story was initially reported on Thursday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2017\/11\/10\/roy_moore_interviewed_by_hannity_generally_didnt_date_girls_in_late_teens_accusations_never_happened.html\">in the Washington Post<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Almost immediately, his enemies, in particular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediamatters.org\/people\/sean-hannity\">Media Matters for America,<\/a> struck. Earlier attempts of this kind, including last May after Hannity reported on the unsolved murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich, did not succeed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The actions of Media Matters are not acceptable. Roy Moore deserves a chance to clear his name. It is obvious that the mainstream media will not give him that chance.<\/p>\n<p>This is the information on Media Matters from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverthenetworks.org\/printgroupProfile.asp?grpid=7150\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">discoverthenetworks.org<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Established in May 2004, Media Matters for America <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/about\">describes<\/a> itself as a \u201cweb-based, not-for-profit \u2026 progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation\u201d in print, broadcast, cable, radio, and <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Mass media\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mass_media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\">Internet media<\/a> outlets across the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667&amp;spn=0.1,0.1&amp;q=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667 (United%20States)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation noopener\">United States<\/a>. Such \u201cmisinformation\u201d includes \u201cnews or commentary that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda.\u201d Moreover, Media Matters is a constituent member of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverthenetworks.org\/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6706\">Shadow Party<\/a>, which is a network of non-profit activist groups organized by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverthenetworks.org\/individualProfile.asp?indid=977\">George Soros<\/a>\u00a0and others to mobilize resources\u00a0&#8212; money, get-out-the-vote drives, campaign advertising, and policy initatives\u00a0&#8212; to advance <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverthenetworks.org\/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6214\">Democratic Party<\/a> agendas.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> Using its website, <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/\">MediaMatters.org<\/a>, as its <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/about\">principal vehicle<\/a> for disseminating information, Media Matters posts rapid-response items as well as longer research and analytical reports \u201cdocumenting conservative misinformation throughout the media.\u201d In its earlier years, Media Matters highlighted such \u201cmisinformation\u201d directly alongside what it depicted as examples of wild, angry rhetoric by conservatives. By so doing, it blurred the distinction between research and opinion. Eventually the organization recognized this error and began to list factual challenges in\u00a0a designated <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/research\/\">Research<\/a>\u00a0section, while attacks on conservative rhetoric were relegated to the Media Matters <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/blog\/\">Blog<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><em>Influence on the Mainstream and <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Left-wing politics\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Left-wing_politics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\">Left-wing<\/a> Media<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> In addition to its website postings, Media Matters \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/about\">works<\/a> daily to notify activists, journalists, pundits, and the general public about instances of misinformation, providing them with the resources to rebut false claims and to take direct action against offending media institutions.\u201d As the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Capital Research Center\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.9102,-77.0361&amp;spn=1.0,1.0&amp;q=38.9102,-77.0361 (Capital%20Research%20Center)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation noopener\">Capital Research Center<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.capitalresearch.org\/pubs\/pdf\/v1220040416.pdf\">reports<\/a>, Media Matters \u201cworks in conjunction with liberal blogs, using sympathetic reporters and pundits to promote far-left messages to the mainstream media and to attempt to force right-leaning media figures out of the public debate.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> In <a href=\"http:\/\/frontpagemag.com\/2012\/02\/15\/media-matters-exposed\/?utm_source=FrontPage+Magazine&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=5b0f5268f0-Mailchimp_FrontPageMag\">February 2012<\/a> Media Matters was the subject of a damning\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2012\/02\/12\/inside-media-matters-sources-memos-reveal-erratic-behavior-close-coordination-with-white-house-and-news-organizations\/#ixzz1mN91fjWg\">expos\u00e9<\/a> by Tucker Carlson\u2019s <em>Daily Caller,<\/em> which revealed the extent to which the organization had become successful in dictating the content of left-liberal media reports. As documented by the <em>Caller<\/em>, newspapers like the <em>Washington Post<\/em>, the <em>New York Times<\/em> and the <em><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Los Angeles Times\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/latimes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"twitter noopener\">Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/em> all took their editorial cues from Media Matters\u2019 talking points.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Any time a news outlet gets too close to a truth the left does not want revealed, they can expect to be attacked by Media Matters. This is an attempt by the political left to silence their political opposition. Rather than engage in a battle of ideas and principles, the political left would like to simply shut down free speech. We saw that with the IRS during the Obama Administration. It is nothing new.<\/p>\n<p>The article at The American Thinker concludes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The stakes in this emerging fight couldn\u2019t be higher. Sean Hannity, and a handful of other high profile conservative hosts on Fox News, represent the last thin line in the mainstream media that is left standing against the almost universal fake news onslaught by the MSM aimed at taking down President Donald Trump.
