The Daily Caller<\/a> posted a story today about the latest protest of the National Anthem<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

According to SFGate.com<\/strong><\/a>, the national anthem<\/a> is a \u201cracist<\/a> song\u201d and the NAACP<\/a> wants to push state lawmakers to change it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alice Huffman, the president of the California<\/a> chapter of the NAACP, said<\/a> the song is \u201cracist\u201d and that it \u201cdoesn\u2019t represent our community. It\u2019s anti-black people.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>The cites the song\u2019s third verse,\u00a0which is usually not sang, as evidence of its racist overtones. The third verse includes a line that says, \u201cno refuge could save<\/a> the hireling and slave from the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave.\u201d<\/strong><\/div>\n

When the song was written in 1814, slavery<\/a> was still legal in the United States<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Slavery is part of America’s history. It’s not a positive part, but it is a part. In 1814, slavery was legal.<\/p>\n

Just as a point of information, according to a website called federalobserver<\/a>:<\/p>\n

…according to the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database, 12.5 million Africans<\/a> were shipped to the New World. 10.7 million survived the dreaded Middle Passage, disembarking in North America, the Caribbean and South America.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And how many of these 10.7 million Africans were shipped directly to North America? Only about 388,000. That\u2019s right: a tiny percentage.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Slavery is over in America. Unfortunately it is still alive and well in other parts of the world. Those protesting the National Anthem might do better to protest the places where slavery still exists.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
