R. 2417, the Better Use of Light Bulbs (BULB) Act.<\/p>\n<p>The bill states:<\/p>\n<ul><strong>&#8220;No Federal, State, or local requirement or standard regarding energy efficient lighting shall be effective to the extent that the requirement or standard can be satisfied only by installing or using lamps containing mercury.<\/strong><\/ul>\n<ul><strong>&#8220;No State or local regulation, or revision thereof, concerning the energy efficiency or energy use of medium screw base general service incandescent lamps shall be effective.&#8221;<\/strong><\/ul>\n<ul><strong><\/strong><\/ul>\n<p>The bill is sponsored by Texas Republican Rep. Joe Barton and would allow Americans to buy and use any type of light bulbs they choose.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>The compact florescent lightbulbs, which the current legislation will force Americans to use in the near future, create an environmental hazard if broken.&nbsp; Anyone who lives in the real world understands that occasionally light bulbs do break.&nbsp; If you&nbsp;share your house with children or pets, this is not good. &nbsp;It is time to give the American consumer the right to choose light bulbs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No, this is not an article about abortion&#8211;it&#8217;s an article about light bulbs&#8211;yes, light bulbs.&nbsp; Yesterday the Daily Caller&nbsp;reported that on Monday the House of Representatives will vote on H.
