As <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Islamic_State_of_Iraq_and_the_Levant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\">ISIS<\/a> is being defeated in <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Iraq\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=33.3333333333,44.4333333333&amp;spn=0.1,0.1&amp;q=33.3333333333,44.4333333333 (Iraq)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation noopener\">Iraq<\/a>, its members go to other parts of the world to commit terrorist acts. Bringing down ISIS worldwide would be a major step in the direction of peace. However, not everyone is working toward that goal.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday the following video was posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1WhXsNKuozUv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1WhXsNKuozU\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>An article at <a href=\"https:\/\/theconservativetreehouse.com\/2017\/07\/22\/general-tony-thomas-reveals-new-york-times-leak-foiled-al-baghdadi-mission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Conservative Treehouse<\/a> that included the above video. In the video, General <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Tony Thomas (producer)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tony_Thomas_%28producer%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\">Tony Thomas<\/a> explains how leaked intelligence foiled the capture of ISIS leader <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Abu_Bakr_al-Baghdadi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\">Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The article at The Conservative Treehouse quotes a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/2017\/07\/21\/isis-broken-but-leader-slipped-away-due-to-leak-says-key-general.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a> story from July 21st:<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cWe have absolutely dismantled his network,\u201d \u00a0Gen. Tony Thomas, speaking of Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, said at the Aspen Security Forum. \u201cI mean everyone who worked for him initially is dead or gone. Everybody who stepped to the plate the next time [is] dead or gone. Down through a network where we have killed, in a conservative estimate, 60,000 to 70,000 of his followers, his army.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>In a wide-ranging interview moderated by Fox News&#8217; Catherine Herridge, Thomas, who leads the Special Operations Command, said his team was \u201cparticularly close\u201d to Baghdadi after the 2015 raid that killed ISIS oil minister <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Abu Sayyaf\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Abu_Sayyaf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\">Abu Sayyaf<\/a>. That raid also netted his wife, who provided a wealth of actionable information.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8220;That was a very good lead. Unfortunately, it was leaked in a prominent <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Newspapers\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wikinvest.com\/industry\/Newspapers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikinvest noopener\">national newspaper<\/a> about a week later and that lead went dead,\u201d Thomas said. \u201cThe challenge we have [is] in terms of where and how our tactics and procedures are discussed openly. There&#8217;s a great need to inform the American public about what we&#8217;re up to. There&#8217;s also great need to recognize things that will absolutely undercut our ability to do our job.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article mentions that the comment about a national newspaper probably refers to a <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"New York Times\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorktimes.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage noopener\">New York Times<\/a> article that appeared in June 2015.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder how the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States Department of Justice\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8933333333,-77.025&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=38.8933333333,-77.025 (United%20States%20Department%20of%20Justice)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation noopener\">Department of Justice<\/a> would have handled this sort of leak during World War II. There is no doubt that this leak cost lives&#8211;either in America or other places around the world. A major international terrorist was allowed to escape because a newspaper wanted a headline. I understand that a free press is necessary for a representative republic such as America, but what about a responsible press?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Terrorism is a worldwide problem.
