{"id":31134,"date":"2017-07-03T21:01:33","date_gmt":"2017-07-04T01:01:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=31134"},"modified":"2017-07-03T21:01:33","modified_gmt":"2017-07-04T01:01:33","slug":"when-the-numbers-dont-add-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=31134","title":{"rendered":"When The Numbers Don&#8217;t Add Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday <a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2017\/07\/02\/nearly-20-percent-of-rhode-island-voters-dont-live-in-rhode-island\/?utm_campaign=thedcmainpage&amp;utm_source=Facebook&amp;utm_medium=Social\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Daily Caller<\/a> posted an article about the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Voting\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Voting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\">voter<\/a> rolls in Rhode Island.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.providencejournal.com\/news\/20170628\/150000-names-erroneously-on-ri-voting-lists\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Providence Journal reports<\/a>\u00a0that <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Secretary of State of Rhode Island\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Secretary_of_State_of_Rhode_Island\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\">Rhode Island Secretary of State<\/a> <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Nellie Gorbea\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nellie_Gorbea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\">Nellie Gorbea<\/a> conducted an audit of the state\u2019s voter registry and identified some 150,000 non-<a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Rhode Island\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=41.7,-71.5&amp;spn=1.0,1.0&amp;q=41.7,-71.5 (Rhode%20Island)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation noopener\">Rhode Islanders<\/a> registered to vote in the state. Gorbea says this group of <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Non-state actor\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Non-state_actor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\">non-state<\/a> residents is primarily composed of citizens who have since moved to other jurisdictions or died and does not suggest widespread fraud.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not fraud if none of them voted, but how do we know how many of them voted?<\/p>\n<p>The article continues:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The Journal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.providencejournal.com\/news\/20161106\/snapshot-view-of-ri-registered-voters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">previously reported<\/a> that there were 781,770 <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Voter registration\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Voter_registration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia noopener\">registered voters<\/a> in the state in 2016. As such, the group of non-state residents Gorbea\u2019s audit identified account for 19 percent of all registered voters in Rhode Island.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8230;Still, Gorbea concedes an inaccurate voter registry jeopardizes the state\u2019s elections.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201c[H]aving clean voter lists [is] critical to preserving the integrity of our elections and ensure that elections are fair, fast and accurate,\u201d she said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One has to wonder why states are not more anxious to clean up their voter rolls.<\/p>\n<p>This is another example of why the Commission on Election Integrity is needed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday The Daily Caller posted an article about the voter rolls in Rhode Island.
