Yesterday The Daily Signal<\/a> posted an article about a shooting in Texas<\/a>. James Jones of Grand Prairie, Texas<\/a>, walked into the Zona Caliente in Arlington, Texas<\/a>,\u00a0and began yelling incoherently. Jones shot and killed 37-year-old Cesar Perez, the bar manager, after he tried to engage him in conversation to find out what he wanted, police<\/a> say. At that point an armed customer drew his own weapon and shot Jones.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter he [Jones] was struck once, the suspect started shooting at the front door,\u201d Cook told the Arlington Voice<\/a>. \u201cWe know people were trying to escape, but we\u2019re not sure if he was just trying to harm others.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the aftermath of the shootings, police discovered that the incident could have been much deadlier. Investigators found two more\u00a0loaded guns and two knives on Jones\u2019 body.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe do believe he had the capacity to do much greater harm,\u201d Cook said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cook confirmed that Zona Caliente is a so-called \u201cblue sign\u201d establishment that allows concealed carry holders to bring firearms inside. He said the shooting will be referred to the Tarrant County<\/a> grand jury\u2014a standard procedure\u2014but doesn\u2019t expect the concealed carry holder to be charged with any crime.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A responsible citizen<\/a> with a concealed carry permit<\/a> is the best response<\/a> to an attempted mass shooting<\/a>. How long would it have taken for the police to arrive on the scene and subdue the gunman? How many people would have lost their lives during that time?<\/p>\n
