Yesterday The Daily Caller<\/a> reported that three brothers who handled computer issues for some Congress members and for members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence<\/a> have been relieved of their duties.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

Brothers Abid, Imran<\/a>, and Jamal Awan were barred from computer networks at the House of Representatives<\/a> Thursday, The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has learned.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Three members of the intelligence panel and five\u00a0members of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs<\/a> were among the dozens of members who employed the suspects on a shared basis. The two committees deal with many of the nation\u2019s most sensitive issues and documents, including those related to the war on terrorism.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Also among those whose computer systems may have been compromised is Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz<\/a>, the Florida Democrat<\/a> who was previously the target of a\u00a0disastrous email hack<\/a>\u00a0when she served as chairman of the Democratic National Committee<\/a> during the 2016 campaign.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The investigation of these men has been going on since late 2016.<\/p>\n

Signs of trouble have long been visible in public records. The Congressional Credit Union<\/a> repossessed Abid\u2019s car in 2009, and he declared bankruptcy in 2012, facing multiple lawsuits.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alvi<\/a>, who did not respond to TheDCNF\u2019s request for comment, has taken multiple second mortgages.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Security-sensitive jobs typically require background checks for credit and legal problems that can create pressures to cash in on access to secret information and documents.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jamal, who public records suggest\u00a0is only\u00a022 years old and first began working in the House when he was 20, was paid nearly $160,000 a year, or three times<\/a>\u00a0the average House IT staff<\/a> salary, according to InsideGov, which tracks congressional salaries. Abid was paid $161,000 and Imran $165,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n

You would think someone might have noticed before last year. It will be interesting to see how much of the media report this story and how they spin it.<\/p>\n
