{"id":29694,"date":"2016-11-22T16:31:57","date_gmt":"2016-11-22T21:31:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=29694"},"modified":"2016-11-22T16:31:57","modified_gmt":"2016-11-22T21:31:57","slug":"the-insanity-will-be-over-shortly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=29694","title":{"rendered":"The Insanity Will Be Over Shortly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2016\/11\/21\/obama-admin-fines-police-department-for-not-hiring-non-citizens\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Daily Caller<\/a> reported yesterday that the Obama <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States Department of Justice\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8933333333,-77.025&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=38.8933333333,-77.025 (United%20States%20Department%20of%20Justice)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Department of Justice<\/a> (DOJ) has fined the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Denver\" href=\"http:\/\/www.denvergov.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Denver County<\/a>\u2019s sheriff office because it refused to hire <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Non-citizens (Latvia)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Non-citizens_%28Latvia%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">non-citizens<\/a> as deputies.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Under the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Immigration_and_Nationality_Act_of_1965\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Immigration and Nationality Act<\/a>, employers are required to give equal treatment to non-citizens with valid work permits, unless state, local, or federal law explicitly requires certain jobs be open only to citizens. More than 40 U.S. states\u00a0currently have <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Law\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">laws<\/a> that in some capacity restrict non-citizens from being police, but <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Colorado\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=39.0,-105.5&amp;spn=3.0,3.0&amp;q=39.0,-105.5 (Colorado)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Colorado<\/a> is not one of them. The department says it was simply unaware that limiting employment to citizens was a violation of federal law.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/crt\/case-document\/file\/900761\/download\" target=\"_blank\">In a report<\/a> released last October, the Department of Justice blasted <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Citizenship\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Citizenship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">citizenship<\/a> requirements for officers as a \u201cbarrier\u201d to creating more racially diverse <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Police\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Police\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">police forces<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cWhile <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Federal law\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Federal_law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Federal<\/a> law allows law enforcement agencies to impose a citizenship requirement where it is authorized by state or local law, this requirement may prevent a considerable number of racial and ethnic minorities \u2013 many of whom have valuable foreign language skills \u2013 from being hired by law enforcement agencies,\u201d the report said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First of all, doesn&#8217;t Denver have the right to decide who they hire as deputies? Second of all, do non-citizens have the same respect for Constitutional rights as citizens?
