{"id":2960,"date":"2011-05-11T14:02:32","date_gmt":"2011-05-11T14:02:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=2960"},"modified":"2011-05-11T14:02:32","modified_gmt":"2011-05-11T14:02:32","slug":"the_double_standard_rides_agai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=2960","title":{"rendered":"The Double Standard Rides Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday the <a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2011\/05\/09\/burn-a-bush-michelle-obama-invites-rapper-common-to-a-poetry-reading\/\">Daily Caller<\/a>&nbsp;reported on the double standard involved in inviting poets to the While House.<\/p>\n<p>In 2003&nbsp;Laura Bush planned a night of reading the poetry of Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes and Walt Whitman.&nbsp; The event was cancelled when left-of-center poets protested and threatened to disrupt the event.&nbsp; All of the poets mentioned above are classic American poets that are&nbsp;normally included in&nbsp;high school English classes (or at least they used to be).<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to 2011.&nbsp; Michelle Obama is also doing poetry at the White House.&nbsp; She has invited&nbsp;Chicago poet and rapper, Lonnie Rashid Lunn, Jr., AKA &#8220;Common.&#8221;&nbsp; The Daily Caller posted a sample of Mr. Lunn&#8217;s poetry.&nbsp; It includes death threats, a call to burn President Bush, and other uplifting items.&nbsp; Some Americans, both on the right and the left, have protested this kind of trash poetry in the White House.&nbsp; So far, Mr. Lunn is still invited.<\/p>\n<p>Let me get this straight&#8211;Emily Dickinson is controversial, but killing people and Presidents is not?&nbsp; It&#8217;s time to find a&nbsp;presidential candidate who represents the values of America.&nbsp; I sincerely hope our current first family does not reflect the values of the majority of Americans.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday the Daily Caller&nbsp;reported on the double standard involved in inviting poets to the While House.
