On Friday The New York Post<\/a> posted a story about calls for the resignation of Manhattan<\/a> Board of Elections Commissioner Alan Schulkin. Commissioner Schulkin made the mistake of speaking truthfully to an undercover reporter for James O’Keefe<\/a>‘s Project Veritas.<\/p>\n

The article reports the Commissioner’s remarks:<\/p>\n

\u201cCertain neighborhoods in particular, they bus people around to vote<\/a>,\u201d he says on the tape. \u201cThey put them in a bus and go poll site to poll site.\u201d Asked if he meant black and Hispanic<\/a> neighborhoods, he nods: \u201cYeah, and Chinese, too.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

…\u201cYou know, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s too much to ask somebody to show some kind of an ID,\u201d he says. \u201cYou go into a building, you have to show them your ID.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

And: \u201cPeople think [opposing voter-ID laws<\/a> is] a liberal thing to do, but I take my vote seriously, and I don\u2019t want 10 other people coming in negating my vote by voting for the other candidate when they aren\u2019t even registered voters.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

A guy whose job involves trying to keep elections clean vents at a party about what he sees as a threat to clean elections<\/a>. How is this a firing offense?<\/strong><\/p>\n

City Democrats<\/a> would be wise to just laugh the whole thing off. After all, if they take away Alan Schulkin\u2019s job now, lots of people will conclude he was punished for telling the truth.<\/strong><\/p>\n
