The Washington Examiner<\/a> posted an article today about a statement made by Senator Claire McCaskill<\/a>, D-Mo., during a Thursday appearance<\/a> on MSNBC<\/a>‘s “Morning Joe.”<\/p>\n

Senator McCaskill stated, “Part of the problem is that our framers were a little maniacal in that if you look at other democracies around the world, when one party wins the congressional branch, they take the executive branch<\/a>. Not in our country.”<\/p>\n

The Senator might want to take a look at the statement of James Madison<\/a> in Federalist Papers<\/a>,<\/em> No. 47, p. 301. He states, “The accumulation of all power, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tryanny.”<\/strong> The separation of powers<\/a> did not mean that the branches always had to work together, the separation was to provide checks and balances on each branch from the other branches. It wasn’t maniacal–it was brilliant in its understanding of human nature.<\/p>\n

The article further reports:<\/p>\n

The senator, who has endorsed fellow Democrat<\/a> Hillary Clinton for president, said that if “Donald Trump<\/a> would bother to read the Constitution he would understand that that means there is a special obligation to try to unite.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Hey listen, I think the Founding Fathers<\/a> were geniuses. And that’s why I’m somebody who likes to preach the gospel of compromise. That’s what they wanted. They wanted us to compromise.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

They didn’t want us to compromise–they wanted us to follow the Constitution and limit the power of government. We have not done a very good job of either!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
