The New York Post<\/a> is reporting today that London Mayor Sadiq Khan<\/a> has announced a ban on ‘body-shaming<\/a>‘ ads. The move is praised by gender equality<\/a> groups (what does that even mean?).<\/p>\n

Transport For London , which runs the British capital<\/a>\u2019s subways, buses, trams and taxi cabs<\/a>, will work up new policies designed to remove what Khan sees as dangerous images used in everyday ads.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAs the father of two teenage girls, I am extremely concerned about this kind of advertising<\/a> which can demean people, particularly women, and make them ashamed of their bodies,\u201d Khan said Monday. \u201cIt is high time it came to an end.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have a few questions about this. Who decides what is allowed? Do gender equality groups (whatever they are) understand what they are supporting? I don’t particularly appreciate advertising that takes the average man five minutes to notice the product because of the scantily-dressed model selling it, but I don’t want to see these images become illegal.<\/p>\n

I have been in London. At one point when visiting, I saw two men dressed in g-strings walking down the street holding hands. Is that going to be addressed? Is there going to be a city dress code? Is London going to have modesty police like Iran<\/a>?<\/p>\n

This is a step down a road that should not be traveled. I wonder if there is a City Council of some sort that should have voted on this.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
