The Jewish News Service<\/a> posted an article today about the attack in Tel Aviv<\/a> last night. The article highlights five myths about terrorist attacks in Israel<\/a> that are simply not true.<\/p>\n

These are the myths that the attack has shattered:<\/p>\n

Myth #1: \u201cThe problem is the settlements\u201d<\/strong> – Tel Aviv is neither disputed nor a settlement.<\/p>\n

Myth #2:\u00a0\u201cIt was a reaction to the occupation\u201d<\/strong> – the village of Yatta<\/a>, the home of the attackers, has been under the rule of the Palestinian Authority<\/a> for nearly 21 years.<\/p>\n

Myth #3:\u00a0\u201cThe Palestinian Authority condemned the attack\u201d<\/strong> – the PA stated:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe condemn violence and attacks against civilians on both sides, whatever the justification.\u201d The PA \u201cnot only condemned the attack in south Tel Aviv early on Monday morning, but also the recent Israel Defense Forces strikes on Gaza, and attacks against Palestinians<\/a> in the West Bank<\/a> and in Jerusalem,\u201d according to Israel\u2019s Channel 10 <\/em>television network.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fatah<\/a>, which is chaired by PA President Mahmoud Abbas<\/a>, explicitly defended the massacre. According to the Palestinian news agency Ma\u2019an<\/em>, Fatah issued a statement calling the attack \u201ca natural response\u201d to Israeli actions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Myth #4:\u00a0\u201cOrdinary Palestinians are against terrorism\u201d<\/strong> – In Ramallah, Tulkarm, Qalqilya, Jenin, and other cities people danced in the streets. That doesn’t sound as if they opposed the attack.<\/p>\n

Myth #5:\u00a0\u201cThe major American news outlets are staffed by objective, professionally trained journalists; if their coverage of Israel is unflattering, that\u2019s because of Israel\u2019s own policies, not because of media bias\u201d<\/strong> – the attack was reported by some of the American press as follows:<\/p>\n

CNN<\/em>\u2019s Twitter announcement of the attack put the word \u201cterrorists\u201d in quotation marks, stating, \u201cTwo \u2018terrorists\u2019 captured after Tel Aviv attack, Israeli police spokesman tweets.\u201d The Washington Post<\/em>\u2019s correspondents in Israel, William Booth and Ruth Eglash, exhibited the same bias. They described the terrorists as \u201cgunmen,\u201d \u201cassailants,\u201d and \u201cattackers\u201d\u2014but never as terrorists, and only indirectly as Palestinians. And the headline-writers at Washington Post <\/em>headquarters came up with this gem: \u201c4 Killed in Tel Aviv Market Shooting that Officials Labeled Terrorist Attack<\/a>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Until the PA stops celebrating terrorism, training its children to be martyrs, and teaching hatred of Israel, there will not be peace in the Middle East. You cannot have a two-state solution with people who want to exterminate you. It simply is not possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
