Even homeschoolers are worried.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Tina Hollenbeck, a homeschooling parent in <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Wisconsin\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=44.5,-89.5&amp;spn=3.0,3.0&amp;q=44.5,-89.5 (Wisconsin)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Wisconsin<\/a>, tells Breitbart News, \u201cIf homeschoolers take <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-government\/2015\/05\/28\/why-homeschoolers-dont-want-school-vouchers\/\">vouchers<\/a> or any other form of government funding \u2018help\u2019 \u2013 even an \u2018educational expenses credit\u2019 on their taxes \u2013 they are enslaving themselves to government mandates.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cAnd by choosing to entangle themselves, they jeopardize homeschooling freedom for all,\u201d she adds. \u201cThat\u2019s because of the very simple economic principle that \u2018he who pays gets the say.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Hollenbeck \u2013 the developer of the <a href=\"http:\/\/hsroadmap.org\/common-core-project\/\" target=\"_blank\">Homeschool Resource Roadmap<\/a> \u2013explains that if homeschooling families accept any taxpayer funding from government entities at any level, the government then has the right to demand \u201caccountability\u201d from them.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cAnd it doesn\u2019t matter if it\u2019s merely a credit on their own taxes because the minute money makes its way into government coffers, the bureaucrats consider it to belong to the government and act accordingly with their rules and (unconstitutional) laws,\u201d she asserts.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-government\/2016\/02\/07\/homeschoolers-to-ted-cruz-we-dont-want-the-governments-help\/\">Karen Braun<\/a>, an activist homeschooling parent who is the lead content writer for the <a href=\"http:\/\/stopcommoncoreinmichigan.com\" target=\"_blank\">Stop Common Core in Michigan<\/a> website, observes the costs of accepting federal funding with an administration that \u201cshreds local and state control.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to a website entitled <a href=\"https:\/\/federaleducationpolicy.wordpress.com\/2011\/04\/15\/department-of-education-organization-act-1979\/\" target=\"_blank\">Federal Education Policy History<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The U.S. established a Department of Education first in <a href=\"https:\/\/federaleducationpolicy.wordpress.com\/2011\/02\/19\/1867-act-to-establish-a-federal-department-of-education\/\">1867<\/a>. \u00a0This original department, however, was not a cabinet level agency, and within a few years was replaced with a bureau and then an office.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>On October 17, 1979 President <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Jimmy Carter\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jimmy_Carter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">James E. Carter<\/a> signed the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Department of Education Organization Act\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Department_of_Education_Organization_Act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Department of Education Organization Act<\/a> (P.L. 96-88; 93 Stat. 668). \u00a0It replaced the Office of Education with a department proper, and installed a secretary at its head.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Department of Education was made a cabinet position as a reward for the teachers&#8217; union&#8217;s support of Jimmy Carter during the 1976 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>According to the 10th Amendment of the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States Constitution\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_Constitution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">U.S. Constitution<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The powers not delegated to the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667 (United%20States)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">United States<\/a> by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have come a long way from that concept, and our nation is failing because of that.<\/p>\n<p>The article at Breitbart.com concludes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Hollenbeck, however, asserts that parents\u2019 right to provide that safe place to learn at home is compromised in our current political environment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cOnce bureaucrats get a foothold into controlling some homeschoolers, they\u2019ll find ways to extend that to all,\u201d she warns. \u201cThus, the only way to maintain all homeschoolers\u2019 independence from government overreach into our homes is by everyone refusing any and all offers of government-sponsored financial \u2018help.\u2019 When we pay, we get the say \u2013 as it should be.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Breitbart News reached out to <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Home School Legal Defense Association\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Home_School_Legal_Defense_Association\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Home School Legal Defense Association<\/a> (HSLDA) to ask how the organization believes the Obama administration\u2019s gender identity \u201cdecree\u201d will affect <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Homeschooling in the United States\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Homeschooling_in_the_United_States\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">homeschooling in the United States<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cWe expect that this will drive up the numbers in homeschooling the same way that Common Core did,\u201d responded <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Michael Farris\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Michael_Farris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Michael Farris<\/a>, Jr. of HSLDA Media Relations. \u201cParents want to have the final say in their children\u2019s education, not have the federal government do it for them.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once the camel gets his nose inside the tent, there is no telling where he will end up.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Breitbart.com posted an article today illustrating the impact President Obama&#8217;s threats regarding the &#8216;bathroom&#8217; (should be called &#8216;locker room&#8217;) bill.
