Today The Daily Signal<\/a> posted a report about the Congressional hearings<\/a> about the sale of aborted baby body parts.<\/p>\n

According to Wikipedia:<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood receives over a third of its money in government grants and contracts (about US<\/a>$528\u00a0<\/span>million in 2014).<\/sup> By law<\/a>, federal funding cannot be allocated for abortions<\/a> (except in rare cases), but some opponents of abortion have argued that allocating money to Planned Parenthood for the provision of other medical services allows other funds to be re-allocated for abortions.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

The article at The Daily Signal reports:<\/p>\n

Cate Dyer, founder of StemExpress, told The New York Times<\/a> in July that her company \u201cobtained fetal tissue<\/a> in accordance with the rules made by ethics boards at the institutions buying it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

In that article, Dyer also was quoted as saying the process of obtaining fetal cells is \u201chard,\u201d \u201cexpensive,\u201d and takes \u201cmillions of dollars of equipment.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood Federation of America<\/a> consistently has denied<\/a> any wrongdoing and was cleared<\/a> in multiple state investigations. In October, after facing questions about its fetal tissue donation<\/a> practices, Planned Parenthood announced<\/a> it would no longer accept any reimbursement as part of its tissue donation program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During today\u2019s hearing, called \u201cThe Pricing of Fetal Tissue,\u201d Republicans were\u00a0expected to call Brian Patrick Lennon<\/a>, a former assistant U.S. attorney from Michigan<\/a>, to testify<\/a> as a witness.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In his written testimony, released in advance, Lennon argues that based on the evidence, an \u201cethical federal prosecutor<\/a> could establish probable cause that both the abortion clinics and the procurement business violated the [federal] statute (42 U.S.C. \u00a7 289g-2), aided and abetted one another in violating the statute (18 U.S.C. \u00a7 2), and likely conspired together to violate the statute (18 U.S.C. \u00a7 371).\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fact that Planned Parenthood has announced<\/a> it would no longer accept any reimbursement as part of its tissue donation program is interesting. It would be instructive to take a look at their books to see if that is actually the case. If what they were doing was legal, why would they arbitrarily end the practice after if was exposed?<\/p>\n
