However, he has not hesitated to tell anyone who will listen what a great President he has been. Some of us aren&#8217;t convinced.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, <a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2016\/03\/11\/the-ugly-truth-about-obamas-pretty-darn-great-economy\/\" target=\"_blank\">The New York Post<\/a> posted an article about <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Barack Obama\" href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">President Obama&#8217;s<\/a> recent claims about the economy.<\/p>\n<p>The article states:<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u2018Anybody who says we are not absolutely better off today than we were just seven years ago, they\u2019re not leveling with you. They\u2019re not telling the truth,\u201d Obama said last week. \u201cBy almost every economic measure, we are significantly better off.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article then goes on to report some of the actual statistics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Labor force\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Labor_force\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">labor force participation rate<\/a> over that period has slid from 65.7 percent to 62.9 (the lowest reading since March 1978) \u2014 down 4.3 percent.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u200aOn Obama\u2019s watch, the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Percentage\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Percentage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">percentage<\/a> of <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667 (United%20States)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Americans<\/a> below the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Poverty threshold\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Poverty_threshold\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">poverty line<\/a> has grown, according to the most recent Census data, from 14.3 percent to 14.8 percent in 2014 \u2014 up 3.5 percent.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u200aReal <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Median household income\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Median_household_income\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">median household income<\/a> across that interval sank from $54,925 to $53,657 \u2014 down 2.3 percent.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u200a<a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Supplemental_Nutrition_Assistance_Program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Food Stamp<\/a> participants soared in that time frame from 32,889,000 to 45,874,000 \u2014 up 39.5 percent.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u200aMeanwhile, from Obama\u2019s arrival through the fourth quarter of 2015, the percentage of Americans who own homes sagged from 67.3 percent to 63.8 \u2014 down 5.2 percent.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think we can afford another four years of this sort of economic success.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Obama is not running for office this year.
