The Daily Caller<\/a> posted a story today stating:<\/p>\n

A top Pakistani religious council responsible for advising the government to ensure that laws<\/a> conform with Islam<\/a> has ruled a new law criminalizing violence against women<\/a> \u201cun-Islamic.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The inference of that law is that violence against women is not considered criminal in Islam.<\/p>\n

The article continues:<\/p>\n

Punjab, the largest province in Pakistan<\/a>, passed the Women\u2019s Protection Act last week. The law is the first of its kind and is intended to protect women from domestic, psychological and sexual abuse. The legislation will also create women\u2019s shelters and a hotline for women to call in order to report crimes. That is, of course, if of course if the law gets by the Council of Islamic Ideology<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole law is wrong,\u201d said Muhammad Khan Sherani, head of the council, during a\u00a0news conference<\/a>. Sherani cited verses from the Koran<\/a> to back up his claim that the law is \u201cun-Islamic.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to its\u00a0website<\/a>, \u201cthe Council of Islamic Ideology is a constitutional body that advises the legislature whether or not a certain law is repugnant to Islam, namely to the Koran and Sunna.\u201d The Sunna is the\u00a0verbal record<\/a>\u00a0of the practices of the Islamic prophet Muhammad<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We need to keep this in mind when allowing people to immigrate to America<\/a>. I have no problem allowing refugees in if they are thoroughly vetted and want to assimilate into American culture<\/a>. I see nothing to be gained by allowing a parallel culture in America that allows for the abuse of women.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
