{"id":27611,"date":"2016-02-15T13:10:36","date_gmt":"2016-02-15T18:10:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=27611"},"modified":"2016-02-15T13:10:36","modified_gmt":"2016-02-15T18:10:36","slug":"this-is-what-civility-looks-like","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=27611","title":{"rendered":"This Is What Civility Looks Like"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/ruth-bader-ginsburg-released-moving-220613059.html;_ylt=A0LEVz0jE8JWuZcAJ.xXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTByMjB0aG5zBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzYw--\" target=\"_blank\">Yahoo News<\/a> posted an article yesterday that included the following statement from <span id=\"yui_3_18_1_1_1455559469424_2047\" class=\"caption\"><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Ruth Bader Ginsburg\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ruth_Bader_Ginsburg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg<\/a> about the death of <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Antonin Scalia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Antonin_Scalia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Justice Scalia<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Toward the end of the opera Scalia\/Ginsburg, tenor Scalia and soprano Ginsburg sing a duet: \u201cWe are different, we are one,\u201d different in our interpretation of written texts, one in our reverence for the Constitution and the institution we serve. From our years together at the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_Court_of_Appeals_for_the_District_of_Columbia_Circuit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">D.C. Circuit<\/a>, we were best buddies. We disagreed now and then, but when I wrote for the Court and received a Scalia dissent, the opinion ultimately released was notably better than my initial circulation. Justice Scalia nailed all the weak spots\u2014the \u201capplesauce\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/justice-scalias-doma-dissent-argle-bargle-2013-6\" data-rapid_p=\"13\">argle bargle<\/a>\u201d\u2014and gave me just what I needed to strengthen the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Majority opinion\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Majority_opinion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">majority opinion<\/a>. He was a jurist of captivating brilliance and wit, with a rare talent to make even the most sober judge laugh. The press referred to his \u201cenergetic fervor,\u201d \u201castringent intellect,\u201d \u201cpeppery prose,\u201d \u201cacumen,\u201d and \u201caffability,\u201d all apt descriptions. He was eminently quotable, his pungent opinions so clearly stated that his words never slipped from the reader\u2019s grasp.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Justice Scalia once described as the peak of his days on the bench an evening at the Opera Ball when he joined two <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Washington National Opera\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Washington_National_Opera\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Washington National Opera<\/a> tenors at the piano for a medley of songs. He called it the famous Three Tenors performance. He was, indeed, a magnificent performer.
