It deals with <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Common Core\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Common_Core\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Common Core<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bioW5SJMFDs\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The highlights below come from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-government\/2016\/01\/21\/exclusive-former-pearson-exec-reveals-anti-american-agenda-in-common-core-on-constitution-guns-christianity\/\" target=\"_blank\">Breitbart.com<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cThe dead white guys did not create this country,\u201d Koerber says. \u201cThey [presumably conservatives] want to talk about those dead white guys.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Koerber continues that Common Core is necessary because \u201cit needs to be come cohesion between the states.\u201d She expresses frustration, however, that \u201c<a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Texas\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=31.0,-100.0&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=31.0,-100.0 (Texas)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Texas<\/a> keeps screwing it up over and over again.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cPeople who say they want to teach the Constitution, only want to teach the part of the Constitution that they like,\u201d she tells the journalist, who then asks her about the Second Amendment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cBut yet they don\u2019t want to teach all of it,\u201d she replies. \u201cDamn the Second Amendment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8230;Kim Koerber (KK): People that are not educated, <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Fox Broadcasting Company\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fox.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Fox TV<\/a> viewers think that Common Core comes from the educated liberal groups and that\u2019s why they are against it. They don\u2019t know anything about it. They think it\u2019s liberal so they\u2019re against it. That\u2019s what I think it is. It\u2019s a knee jerk reaction. My mother, oh my God, she\u2019s a Fox person. If I could remove Fox from my television set, I would\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>I did a big presentation yesterday for <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"AP United States History\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/AP_United_States_History\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">AP US History<\/a> and the AP US History agenda was set, until Texas got upset about it and they wanted to have their founders \u2013 they wanted founders in it. And it\u2019s like \u2013 come on. The dead white guys did not create this country. It was a whole bunch of different kinds of people. And yes there were women, and yes there were people of color, and yes\u2026you need to talk about them too. But they want to talk about those dead white guys.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Note the tolerance for opposing ideas&#8211;&#8220;If I could remove Fox from my television set, I would&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Note the hostility to &#8216;dead white guys&#8217; who wrote the Declaration of Independence, the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States Constitution\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_Constitution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">U.S. Constitution<\/a>, and the Bill of Rights.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Republicans want to get in there and talk about stuff and change things about school stuff because they want to, they want to influence what is being taught. Common core doesn\u2019t put up with that.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Common Core is copyrighted&#8211;there is no room for local school boards to make changes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>PV: I am really glad I\u2019m here in <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"California\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=37.0,-120.0&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=37.0,-120.0 (California)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">California<\/a>, whatever religious affiliation you want to take is fine, but in Texas they want to push the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Christianity\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Christianity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Christianity<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>KK: Because they think it\u2019s the only one.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>PV: They do, and I see that.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>KK: That\u2019s why it\u2019s so offensive to have these prayers in the school board.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>PV: Christianity is totally out of the common core?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>KK: Yes it is. Totally. It\u2019s not a core concept at all.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>PV: But then there is a mention of other religions like Islam.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Christianity played a part in the founding of this nation&#8211;the churches of <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667 (United%20States)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">America<\/a> played a role both in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War.\u00a0The settlers at Jamestown and Plymouth Rock both declared America to be a <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Christian right\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Christian_right\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Christian nation<\/a>&#8211;even before it was America.
